The game you are about to play is a product of its time. It may depict the PS3, which was commonplace in society. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today.

final final note: for my wedding a year and a half ago, I had my sister read from Ecclesiastes, but also read "The Beauty of House is immeasurable; its Kindness, infinite."

it is possible that I am the world's biggest Piranesi fan; certainly I have woven it thoroughly into my life.

But yes, I'm a huge fan of Piranesi -- I've read it every year since it came out. (Or, well, some years I've listened to the excellent Chiwetel Ejiofor audiobook). That book is written on my soul in letters of fire, for reasons I often struggle to articulate!

Also I think I somehow missed this and will be reading it posthaste!

I've never succeeded in getting a good picture of it, but here it is! The statue of a woman carrying a beehive, with some bees around to make that a little clearer, and then a shadowy figure representing our boy! It was a Christmas gift from my wife a few years ago!

"In a novel, one expects (or at least I expect) the ability to make sense of the text without already knowing all the details of the author’s life." Unfortunately, that's not the case with Patricia Lockwood's latest book, writes @billcoberly.bsky.social.

"If you’ve never had the tiresome experience of listening at length to a friend whose consumption of psychoactive substances has filled their mind with dreams of absolute reality, Patricia Lockwood’s newest novel, Will There Ever Be Another You, will serve as a decent proxy."

This is the stranger’s case.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

god I hate this dude. When in law school one of my well-meaning classmates learned I grew up in a trailer park and said “you should read Hillbilly Elegy” I had to resist the urge to start screaming, and this was even before he made his full heel turn

Vance: For what?
February 5, 2026 at 12:33 AM
Oh, for sure! But in particular by halfway through the section where he’s spying and learning how to read and such I felt it was one-note and grating. Like, any five minute section would be a great monologue, but let the text speak for itself a bit, Dan! Don’t overhit *everything!*

My problem with Stevens’s reading is he reads all of the Monster’s lines like he’s on the edge of tears, which is justifiable from the text but made me just exhausted by halfway through

I’m sure if we made everyone who ever emailed Jeffrey Epstein for any reason take the black and go to the Wall we’d get a bunch of false positives, but I can’t help but feel it would be a net gain for society regardless
