A reminder: a solid majority of people really like these and approve of a competently-managed year-round program. The current policy stance of the city is “we’re intentionally making it economically impossible because some people claim they saw a dirty shed once”
Thousands of outdoor dining areas might not return to the city's roadways next spring, the result of what activists call a costly approval process created by the Adams administration when the program became seasonal.

From thousands of pandemic-era eateries to perhaps just a few hundred, thanks to a seasonal, not year-round, program.

A huge 89% majority of global people [56% even in the United States] want stronger action to fight the #ClimateCrisis, but mistakenly believe they’re in a minority.

People want action. Smart cities are taking action. Nations should support city action.

NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

Take road safety. The last admin pushed rules for speed limiters+side guards in big rigs and automatic emergency braking in cars+trucks—est. to save 1k lives annually.

After industry blowback, the Trump admin has killed, made plans to weaken or signaled delays/changes for each.

In the past, I've put dinner for 14 in the carrier.

Cargo bikes are great because you can pick up bonus kids!

Today I got to bring @jamesthe500.bsky.social ‘s awesome kiddos (+ my 7yo) on our bike.

The speed bumps we went over on the route resulted in many giggles.

Riding together in a cargo bike is a great way for kids to make friends.

Biking on narrow cobbled streets toward the main library in downtown Utrecht, past people walking, other bikes and cargo bikes, it's easy to imagine the city of centuries ago, and the city that will be, a century from now.

Bikes make sense.
