Some oldheads can correct me, but I recall Bush having to go through a lot of trouble to lie to congress about weapons of mass destruction to invade Iraq. Trump doesn't even bother lying to congress. He just posts his intent on Truth Social then puts out the orders to bomb abroad & they go through.

I know some people may have thought the purpose of scholarship was to create and refine better understandings of the world while winnowing and weeding out incorrect and obsolete ideas, but what if we just gave all the ideas equal time all the time instead of discarding the dumb and immoral ones?

It's remarkable how perfectly this awful story is similar to The Dreyfuss Affair, from the banishment to a cruel tropical prison to the world's worst and stupidest people refusing to let it go even for decades after he was freed.
