I spent most of my adult life as a reporter at WNYC and NPR. Now I’m working at @PressPassNYC to rebuild trust in media by helping the next generation. We give public schools the support & tools to launch student news sites.

I got to record Stephen Sondheim giving a rare class for high school English and theater teachers in 2014, when I worked for WNYC. It was thrilling. He got choked up when he told them teaching is “a sacred profession.”

Drama teachers from across New York City were thrilled to get a master class with Stephen Sondheim. But it was the Broadway legend who got emotional praising their work.

(1/3) Bari Weiss isn’t acting alone. had a boss like her once. They were clearly appointed to be a disruptor. A wrecking ball. It takes a certain kind of person who lacks integrity to do the bidding of a horrible leader or owner with an agenda.

So Trump claimed he bombed ISIS in Nigeria-on Christmas Day, no less-because they were slaughtering Christians

An assertion which was refuted by officials in the region

Yet starting on January 1, he will suspend issuing any visas to Nigerian citizens-leaving them vulnerable to future attacks

Reminder that Bari Weiss held the 60 Minutes piece on migrant gulags with the suggestion that Stephen Miller (whose number she has) should comment. Maybe if 60 Minutes could just post this video alongside the story, it would meet Weiss's vaunted editorial standards.
White House Senior Advisor Stephen Miller has spent years weaponizing hatred to become the mastermind of Trump’s crackdown on marginalized groups.

Zeteo traces his most hateful, strange, and downright cringey moments along the way.

Democracy depends on a fearless and free press.

Corporations or ultra-wealthy individuals with many other business interests should not be allowed to control our media.

They cannot be trusted to prioritize the public’s right to know over their own financial interests.

Today I received FOUR death notifications for people in ICE custody. That's 30 deaths since Trump took office. It's appalling & unacceptable.

ICE is required—by law—to ensure detainees are safe & their basic needs are met. It's clear this isn't the case. We NEED answers.
