It's on my mind a lot how so much of the anti-ice activity relies on things women have been told to do for decades to avoid sexual assault. Whistles. Car alarms. Buddy systems. Check-ins.

Many of the most compassionate and competent people I know are addicts in recovery! And I am proud to call them my friends and trust them with my life.
that's a bad feeling. when i say RFK Jr. won't see your posts baselessly blaming addiction for his evil, but the rest of us will, this is what i mean. it reinforces norms that harm people like me because we have a disease. please consider not making comments like that—not for his sake, but for ours.

Part of the issue is that those most actively protesting and leading mutual aid are women and gender non-conforming people. Both groups are illegible to many as protesters. This helps explain the invisibilization of current protests and resistance.

Look, no one hates Americans as much as we hate ourselves. We let our kids get gunned down at school in droves. We leave each other living in tent camps. We die of easily preventable diseases. We refuse to cut carbon emissions.

One of the things people misunderstand about a good system of education is that the capstone payoff is curiosity, not knowledge.

It is more important to learn to want to know things, than it is to learn some set of things.
Sometimes I forget that the greatest gift we give our students is the example of passionately loving our own curiosity

I don't love the way the city alerts frame this as "sensitive populations should limit outdoor activity."

As if getting the sniffles from air full of smoke and particulate matter makes you the problem.

It reminds me of how abusers call you "sensitive" if you complain about them hitting you.
Wondering why I'm all sniffly and then seeing the AQI is 157 this morning. No quantity of allergy meds is going to fix this. BRB, cancelling my exercise plans.

Let tonight be a lesson to all of us: Make sure you have established your own, and are aware of your loved ones', advance directives.

I have fond memories of my parents being involved in an action they couldn't take kids to and leaving us w the older teenage children of fellow protestors. It was actually really good for all children involved to get to be a part of community like that.
Childcare is collective action & if you aren't a "go to the march/protest/meeting/hearing" guy (gn), but you *are* an "I'll put on a movie for your kids and mine while you go to the march/protest/etc" guy, you are participating in collective action
It’s been cool to see just how many local businesses are closing on Friday for the ICE out of Minnesota general strike. But…I just got an email from my kid’s daycare that they are also closing in solidarity. I guess I’m not going to the march after all…

I suspect many people are bamboozled by LLM text generators simply because they can't actually type very well. It looks like a miracle to them to be able to spit out a page of text in a few minutes.
