yeah seeing the "Minneapolis took off because the so-called 'activists' got out of the way and let normal people in" takes is really frustrating. that's not at all an accurate look at what's happening in Mpls or anywhere else. All these movements rely on cores of people who have experience.
Lots of regular degular, never-done-an-activism folks have been activated in recent months and are working alongside a bunch of seasoned, die-hard, been-tired-for-ten-years-or-more organizers, and you don't know all of those stories bc most people are moving with a bit of discretion in these times.

This is what they consider “de-escalating."

They don’t know the resiliency of Ward 9 neighbors though. We aren’t stopping until the whole dam system is abolished.

Hi everyone! We’ve been super busy delivering meals the past two weeks- the extreme cold has made this more necessary than ever. MIWRC has been operating as an emergency warning shelter for most of the month and we’ve been really fortunate to help keep hot meals available there for people in need.

These fucking animals are drawing guns on people for the non-crime of following them while following all traffic laws
This is just insane. It’s only a matter of time before DHS kills another innocent person here.

this would not have been possible had the Columbia Heights Superintendent & board chair gone public w/ families of the abducted & demanding their return.

we have MANY Minnesota children being held in the same Texas concentration camp as Liam & his dad.

we need more brave superintendents & boards.
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery's order, issued Saturday morning, requires that Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias and his son, Liam Conejo Ramos, be released from federal custody while their immigration case proceeds through the court system. Biery's order requires they be released by Tuesday.

In a scathing order, a judge orders the release of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father.

“Philadelphia, September 17, 1787: "Well, Dr. Franklin, what do we have?" "A republic, if you can keep it."
With a judicial finger in the constitutional dike, It is so ORDERED.”

Just yesterday, the Hennepin County Sheriff brutalized our neighbors who were simply standing outside the Whipple Federal Building. Law enforcement should never assault and pepper spray our residents. 3/

Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt needs to stop assisting ICE. It’s very clear that the sheriff’s department has been harassing, intimidating, arresting and coming out in force to assist ICE. They have been using force against neighbors who are working to protect our immigrant neighbors. 2/

This has been an issue we’ve been grappling with at the park board.

It literally this: “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”
Passing laws to rein in a lawless occupying force makes you wonder how laws are enforced in this era

Of course two stories can happen at once, but we are socialized (by these apps! The irony!) to desire attention and praise for everything we do.

I am so proud of the way so many people continue to fight and show up. I need the stories we tell to push us toward abolishing ICE, dismantling borders.

An (I’m assuming unpopular) thought I have been having is the importance of centering immigrants and refugees in our stories of this moment.

When we center the stories of only observers, we get milquetoast.

Do you know who is brave? The mom who is terrified to go to work accepting help.

Kind of depressing that everyone discovered that the 2A crowd loved the “Don’t Tread on Me” flag because it was centered around *me*

Like, when actual authoritarian power showed up, the slogan wasn’t about *us* resisting tyranny at all -- it was always just about their personal threat to others
