Scientists are expected to do peer reviewing but no one tells you HOW. After talking with several folks about this today at #AGU24 , it seems a good time to link to this presentation I made several years ago -- feel free to use/share! docs.google.com/presentation...

Improving how models represent Arctic veg ⬆️ ability to simulate C dynamics. Using obs from towers/chambers/drones/aircraft, we found better rep of heterogeneity=better predictions, bringing models closer to obs and highlighting key gaps for scaling (shrubs!)

Just in time for the holidays - new lab paper out by Wiles et al that presents a new mapping of climate-driven ecotonal shifts in Michigan over the last 11,000 years and assesses whether ecotonal systems are more sensitive to climate change. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
Are Ecotonal Systems More Sensitive to Climate Change? Past Ecotonal Dynamics and Rates of Vegetation Change in Michigan
Aim Ecotones are expected to be sensitive to climate change, but supporting evidence is scarce. Here we test the ecotonal sensitivity hypothesis by reconstructing past movements of a major temperatu...

No (imho). I don’t cite my text editor or reference management software, either.

Oh, I absolutely do!
Earlier today I listened to a podcast where someone described their work "using a new AI method such as clustering".

The relevant Wikipedia page has citations from the 1930s.

And how is your day going?
🌟✨New paper: Check out our New Phytologist Tansley review on how changing precipitation patterns (changes in amount, intensity, & frequency of ppt already being observed due to climate change) affect soil organic matter dynamics.

I am using it for an analysis! Thank you!

With no disrespect to the good folks at posit.co, I'm super tired of authors using #rstats for their scientific analyses but only citing RStudio in their papers; I see this regularly as an editor.
