Proud Dad moment ✨
Our elf on the shelf, Sparkle, instructed the girls to build her a tree

While modeling the tree with purple play-doh (of course), my 5 yo said the tree wasn’t correct because it needed roots 😇

(If you don’t know about the magical elf on the shelf, it’s both amazing & stressful)

Did you just have a long delayed flight to #AGU25 ?
Are you awaiting your first sip of coffee?

What better way to kick off AGU than to stop by poster 1134 and talk roots!

I may not be the only root doctor in NOLA, but I might be the chattiest 🤷‍♂️

We're searching for a full-time Senior Scientist who will become a core leader in our long-term research program on forest carbon budgets, with studies of ecosystem CO2, water, and energy fluxes.

Unfortunately, we can't sponsor int'l visas for this position. careers.harvard.edu/job/senior-s...

I might be projecting, but I'm pretty sure a majority of folks at the Brick and Brew tonight are other professors trying to get their fall-term grades finalized and submitted

Always happy to be in the field,
And was an awesome chance to catch up with collaborators from the CLIFF experiment @harvardforest.bsky.social

Even more fun when you cap it all off with music and cake

IF the stem to a soil core snaps off deep in a hole in the woods, and no one is around to see it…

Does it need a "core‑ction"?

Or does it just lie there, leaf‑ing us wondering whether it was ever a sample at all?

I don't think welding this together will work anymore... @sgradywelsh.bsky.social

QUESTION: @evilanova.bsky.social and I were discussing resources for finding root:shoot ratios (belowground biomass, root biomass, etc) for global forests / ecoregions

And really doesn't feel like there has been much progress in this

Any suggestions for where to look!??
