UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

the idea that freedom is in our DNA is just a misinterpretation of the fact that we’re a nation of finicky whiners who don’t like to be personally inconvenienced

a lot of people are finally waking up to the importance of the 3rd amendment. As a 3A absolutist, i think it should be illegal for soldiers to be quartered anywhere in this country. they should be camping under the open sky at all times. all military bases and barracks are unconstitutional.

people have already mentioned SNEAKERs, THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR and of course ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN as great redford performances, let me recommend THE CANDIDATE, which is really one of the best movies ever made about american politics

I love to show up every day for my job, which is standing around holding the front of my tactical vest and getting told to choke to death by thousands of passers-by while 11 of my coworkers handcuff a roofer on his way to work. Every night I drive 80 minutes home, thinking about nothing at all.

As end-of-empire scenarios go it is so much more dignified to get your capital city sacked by the Visigoths than to have a bunch of illiterate rich people in their 70s doing it through a series of incomprehensible tantrums because their brains were defeated by their phones.

there’s an infomercial on tv for some brain pill for seniors called neuroq and i don’t think you turn this country around until you (1) shut down the fake supplements industry and (2) make everyone responsible eat all the remaining inventory on a livestream i can check in on any time i want

a weird thing about the NYT, to me, is that they're able to hire all this top journalistic talent, and then nobody ever seems to do the best work of their career there. it's like the 04 Lakers of newspapers

they ask politicians like Mamdani if they are communists but they never ask anyone if they are a fascist and that's all you really need to know

bad news for Mamdani: i just imagined him shooting at my feet with two revolvers while shouting "dance! dance, ya varmint, dance!!" and then cackling so maniacally that his cowboy hat falls off. When will he go on TV to apologize for doing this

I cannot do enough to stress how much money the executive class simply helps itself to, and how much it really is just that - helping themselves.

Once again I say - the problem with “AAA” game dev is not “games are too expensive to make.”

It’s that game execs are too expensive to pay.
NEW: EA CEO Andrew Wilson was paid $30.5 million in cash and stock this past year, up about $5m from a year ago

Since the U.S. requires companies to compare CEO pay to employee pay, I made an EA pay chart

To make it work, I had to make it VERY TALL

Take a look: www.gamefile.news/p/ea-ceo-and...
EA CEO’s pay is up, as EA worker median income drops
Behold, the tallest chart in Game File history. PLUS: EA execs were paid (a little) more for boosting generative AI

Okay maybe this is too hot a take for 5:30pm on a Saturday but I think meme accounts that don’t give any attribution paved the way for people to accept AI words and imagery because it separated culture and entertainment from the idea that someone had to have those thoughts and compose them.

Very cool, and also very safe, that everyone people trying to live their lives now have to account for the possibility of these absolute dorks doing Sicario Fantasy Camp maneuvers at random.
New footage just dropped of ICE agents in Bell running through an intersection and driving erratically — in private vehicles (with no lights or sirens), causing a traffic accident after which they jumped out of their pickup truck with machine guns drawn. This is what set everything off in Bell.
