Dems are such fucking losers, their only "get" in the shutdown is going to be a show vote that will enable vulnerable Repubs to deflect voter anger over exploding ACA premiums.
It's worse than no "get" at all.
It's worse than no "get" at all.
Wouldn't setting up a meaningless ACA vote give a lot of more-moderate GOP senators an opportunity for a show vote?
Like: 'Sure I voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill, but I also voted for an extension of ACA credits, so don't blame me...'

This was quite obviously what was going to happen. Did y'all really expect any different?
SCOTUS is a component of the regime. It exists only to protect capital from the regime's worst impulses.
It must be dismantled after the revolution and the restoration of the republic.

BREAKING: the Supreme Court has granted Trump administration’s request.
So the justices will weigh the irreparable harm to the government of having to transfer the funds against the irreparable harm of tens of millions of people not eating

Got an email this morning with an article about AI potentially hallucinating metadata. Now here's a thread about a lawyer who used AI that hallucinated statements in an affidavit. Everyone should be aware, it's not just about fake authorities.
#LegalEthics Tidbit: OK, #AI is not reliable for legal research. But it’s really good at accurately summarizing documents, right? RIGHT!?

I did not write the headline, but I have an op ed on Prop 50 over at the @sfchronicle.com.
Shorter version: the nationalization and polarization of our politics is what got us here, and it's also the most likely way out. It will take national partisan Democratic hardball to enact anti-hardball.

California’s Prop 50 passed. Now, here’s how to end partisan redistricting once and for all
OPINION: We need a new federal statute of mutual disarmament — ideally before we reach the point where there are zero California Republicans and zero Texas Democrats, Joseph Fishkin writes.

What these charts show is that billionaire money is *incredibly* effective in influencing elections.
It didn't work in NY, because Zohran was an exceptional candidate who ran an exceptional campaign.
But we won't always have Zohrans. And a national campaign is a lot more difficult than a muni one.

while the story in Virginia and New Jersey was heavily one of relative turnout, with far more votes than usual coming from liberal areas, this was not the case in New York

When we rewrite the Constitution, we are getting rid of the native-born requirement for the Presidency (assuming we keep the Presidency at all). It's 2008 all over again, except Zohran is the real deal.
Today is only the beginning.
Our time has come, New York. Our time is now.

It makes sense if you accept that Satan has successfully corrupted the evangelical churches and that the right is now in thrall to a transcendent force of infinite malevolence.
(Do I really believe this? Let's just say that I don't *not* believe it.)

The complete inversion of morals on the right is not surprising but it's still shocking. Imagine being on the side of intentionally starving children.
