not 3D but I've been playing stardew valley for the first time lately and
games where the only thing u r doing is arranging crisp 3D objects such as animal crossing and the sims are so addicting to me like i could die in there. i could live there for eternity. i could spend ten thousand lifetimes asleep inside of a game where u arrange objects

Ill be clear about why I am so angry and critical about it: Im seeing a good portion of my students who have imbibed the notion that they dont have to read, think or write for themselves because ChatGPT/CoPilot will do their thinking for them, and its terrifying. It should scare all of us.

no, it simply isnt.
People are talking about capital using gAI as an excuse to conduct mass lay-offs, about students losing learning because theyre being lied to about gAI in education, about the mass theft of the work of artists and authors to train LLMs, about CSAM and nonconsensual sexual images.
The predominent anti-AI position on bsky is that AI is useless, fake, shit and basically the same as NFTs, destined to collapse in months once everyone sees how poor it is. So anyone who suggests that it could improve or be useful to any boss in any situation in the future must be evil.

i think nominating Gavin Newsom will lose the White House again for Democrats. The party's left flank will stay home again because he's an empty corporate shell. The age of Democrats punching left to appeal to the center is over and it's now a matter of if the party as a whole realizes that or not.

Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

There is literally no better example of textbook fascistic thinking than "Who cares about human rights when the rich are doing so very well"
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

Perfect example: this lady who is afraid to mention a single one of her pen names, because she needs to trick people into buying her slop.

Her *actual* pitch in the article — what she's willing to put her real name on — is "you too can get rich quick selling slop, ask me how."
fuck this lady, fuck the nyt reporter, fuck all of this. fuck amazon for introducing the KU page read model that makes this possible, fuck our tech overlords.

"AI work is just as good as human work" is a statement that *always* flows from the direction of power. Employers to workers, producers to consumers, but not the reverse.

Because it's not a thing people actually believe, but an argument: slop is good enough for you; you are slop.

I went to a presentation about this recently. Asimov actively prevented a LOT of women sci-fi authors from getting published, mainly because he was such a perv to them at conferences & whatnot. but he was untouchable, so they gave up. he robbed the world of probably just as much sf as he put into it
To everyone just now finding out Isaac Asimov was rather famously a sex pest: He's been gone 34 years now, you can handle this truth, I believe in you

A lot of "golden age" science fiction has interesting ideas and workman-like-at-best prose, and Asimov was no exception to this. He and many other GA SF writers benefitted from "first-mover" status, and also, editors who preferred neat SF concepts (and men) over exceptional prose (and women).
Luke warm take? His stuff was influential but kinda-mid.

the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

"Even when the writing and story get a bit off track here and there, you have to forgive it, because there's real feelings in there... This movie is a lesson in how much you can forgive a movie if it has the juice. Crucially, I can guarantee I will pay money to see the next Mark Fischbach film."

I've been watching Markiplier since before he even had a webcam. 13 years later he's still one of the only youtubers with actual integrity & an earnest commitment to being genuine and making good art. now he's made a feature film, and I'm so fucking happy for him I've literally ugly-cried about it.

1) they didn't grow up while the books were coming out the way millennials did & don't have the same nostalgia for it

2) rowling is a hateful piece of shit & that has retroactively sullied everything she's ever written

3) in hindsight the books were always just kind of okay at best

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced the Democrats have to push their hand immediately. The parallels with the delays and subsequent failures after January 6th are blaring warning signs about what will happen if they don’t go after the issues with ICE and CBP at the root RIGHT NOW.
