‘But it’s my idea!!!’ the point is to ask the experts what would make the game terrific and then go towards that not to ask the law of averages what is the average of all games

The core of any piece of art is about what a human wants to say to another human about the experience of being alive; if you are asking a predictive text machine about that there is literally no point in anyone making what was spat out because ML doesn’t want to say anything specifically

When presented with the stupid unoriginal lore ideas equivalent to JKR raiding Worst Witch and Dahl fairytales but machine made the team will still have to actually fix it, make it fun, and grapple with the fact at the core of it the idea was stale, stolen & synthetic

this shit just sucks, man. Larian made one of the best games of the decade and was on such a strong stick-it-to-the-AAA-man streak, so to see them also capitulate to the planet-breaking creativity-destroying plagiarizing torment nexus is a new level of disappointment

they might as well have said, "it's ok guys, we only use generative AI for establishing the fundamental ideas of our games and conceptualizing their entire style, but real humans copy all that for the final product! we don't get why people are mad"

similarly, I often think about "the curb cut effect": how public accessibilty aids like curb cuts are useful to literally everyone, not just those that rely on them. the same principle applies on larger scale -- the more accessible our very infrastructure becomes, the more everybody's lives improve

pretending your pet is a service animal or faking a mobility issue is despicable, but it's also not the same as fraudulently adopting a real service animal or taking a disabled parking space. it sucks, but punishing harmless rule-breakers solely on principle only restricts accessibilty further
