In my [REDACTED] year of #iteachmath. The way I teach ≠ the way I was taught. Wondering if #mtbos should now be #mbbos.

May also find me talking about photography, the outdoors, traveling, sports, SF, & hanging with my kids. Not necessarily in that order.

My initial response to seeing this headline was fear, but after reading the article this child most likely would have been killed if this had been a human driver.

I'd say one of my strengths is to have measured conversations with internet strangers who have different views from my own, where I genuinely try to understand where they are coming from.

But spewing racist junk and/or telling me to stfu? Block and move on with my day. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

Reporters, if you wrote about learning loss due to covid school closures, you can write about learning loss due to state terror.
I am not being snarky. I need my colleagues who wrote on covid school lockdowns to engage with this. To be as loud as they have been about prior "learning loss." Hell, you can cite Tom & Mark's AERJ paper so you feel better that there's some econ somewhere in your argument.

This happens *all* the time, and I'll never understand why the standard follow-up isn't "Oh, that's surprising. You should probably get up to speed asap and then get back to me with a response."

Congress could mandate that states use proportional representation, with parties getting a number of seats proportional to their share of the vote. Advocates are already pushing for some states to experiment with this reform.

Most people in the know would have told you two years ago that the only thing more unlikely than Indiana turning blue politically is Indiana football winning a national championship.

Keep dreaming.

It doesn't help that we are fed a constant diet of crime, crime, crime by media, but I also wonder how many of these posts are coming from people who just don't walk anywhere beyond Target parking lots.
I’m in several online travel groups, mostly for typical European destinations. Without fail, 70% of the posts are white Americans asking about all the crime. How to avoid the crime. How to eat without being crimed. Crime, crime, crime.

What is wrong with people? Don’t answer that.

At some point in my adult life I realized that, as a profession, police officers' greatest skill should be the ability to deescalate tense situations. And the majority of the time this isn't even the reality in what should be boring-ass mundane interactions.
To echo Nate's point, a while back, my husband and I pulled into a parking lot just before a tollbooth on the thruway to swap places before a long drive. A cop ON THE OTHER SIDE of the parking lot drove over to us and got out his car yelling at us. It was such a wild experience.

But also.
I have to be honest. this isn't meant to downplay the seriousness of what's happening now, and this isn't meant to be glib. But this is also how ALL cops act. The first time I got screamed at like this by a cop, I was 16, because of a traffic jam in the school parking lot. Every single one of them
