Seeing an uptick in people in education writing "transgendered" when describing children or policy. As a friendly reminder, "transgender" is an adjective, not a verb. (I suspect it's happening because "disabled child(ren)" is not uncommon and people are mirroring that usage.)

ICE arrests could hurt student test scores, study says — and not just for immigrants

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Today's #F1 race was one of the best I think I've ever seen. To quote one of the announcers, "I need to sit down." (One of the babies made it to the podium!!!)

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

every time you think the new WaPo editorial board can't embarrass itself any more, they manage to find a way.

Left: 'Texas gerrymandering is no big deal!', from August.
Right: 'Maryland gerrymandering is an affront to Western civilization!', from today.

In the spirit of @karenattiah.bsky.social's post, sharing this picture a clerk at my local hardware store insisted on taking of me handily carrying two 40 pound bags of salt.

An attribute of a well-educated mind is a willingness to pivot or move when new information comes to light. There is a whole lot Randi could model by putting an end to the AI partnerships.
Dear @rweingarten.bsky.social and @aft.org: Please cancel your partnership with this evil company and stop pushing “A.i.” on teachers and students.
There are no words for how evil this is

It is not a good sign when the most common response to this news around Buffalo is either "who?" or a genuine belly laugh.
Stefanik jumped on the pendulum as it was swinging to the right and now wants to run for governor as it swings back to the left. In New York, no less. Stuff like this may still help lock up the primary but it is going to be an anchor in a general.

Next request: anyone seen good domain-specific research on AI and workforce development and/or education? Specifically, whether employers actually expect or want "AI literacy", and in what ways? I keep hearing that "employers expect" phrase, but without citation. Is it an AI bubble talking point?

I was wrong. The single best part of losing? The people who've reached out to our committee asking how to get involved.
The single best part of losing? I never have to look at Facebook again.

Congrats school choice advocates! You've shifted in the landscape in such a way, taxpayers now have to fund PR and advertising for public schools. Awesome!

I love this sentiment and wish we had been in this group. That said, my town went haaaaard for Trump; my running mate and I lost by the population of a small subdivision. There was a shift, just not enough to flip.
Every new post tonight is like Dems have flipped the Mehaden town sewer authority, long dominated by conservatives, by a +38 margin
