After the US admin cancelled the $B Climate + Weather Disaster dataset, @climatecentral.org hired the scientists who ran it and set it back up.

Now the 2025 numbers are in: it's 3rd highest year on record and highest year w/o land-falling hurricanes.

In 1997: some kid hadn’t started school& majored in geophysics at Rice& decided to do a senior project on the Orinoco

Can’t find that text, But, remember comparing Venezuela heavy oil to Canadian tar sands & speculating about CO2 injection

That issue remains 🧐

MANY of my folks’ friends were landmen

❤️ The shows beautiful desert landscapes- Although these don’t look the same now w decades of fracking 🤨

But,
Landmen
Secure leases for land
Secure leases for rightaways
Write contracts for mineral rights
… so are often lawyers
& external party negotiator

"Landman" is straight-up fossil fuel propaganda, being piped into millions of homes a week.

Is there anything similar for renewables? Is anyone even pondering such an idea? [tap tap] Is this thing on?
New season of "Landman" reflects oil industry's renewed swagger
"'Landman' reflects a pivot point of how the industry is viewed," American Petroleum Institute president says.

I’m just about ready for New Years.

Black Eyed Peas were always served for ‘luck’ on New Years Day in my family’s home (TX via OK), but these little beans remain rare to find as a staple and around nyc.

My local Ctown grocer absolutely keeps them stocked for me this time of year though.
