#uspolitics

The US has a specific law about invading the ICC if they bring US people to trial but will go capture the head of another state to bring to trial in the US.

Really cool and good for the rest of the world.

OMG 😭

Huntington's is an inherited disease that's like Alzheimers + Parkinson's all in one. NOW: "once the gene therapy has been delivered into the brain... [it] injects a piece of DNA to reprogram the neuron to become a factory for its own cure."

LIFE SAVING!

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

I had thought "one of the movies of all time" originated in someone forgetting "greatest" or "best" on a forum post and we all ran with it, but turns out the construction goes back much further!

Learned of the word cruciate (cross-shaped) today, so I’m thinking the word excruciating probably means like, I’m so fricken miserable I’m basically like the lord Jesus Christ on the cross up here. When you play your music too loud, you are nailing me up here. And he would agree with me too.

...it's funny that I switched in order to continue using an RSS reader extension and then it turns out Vivaldi apparently has its own built-in RSS reader
After a while using Edge (I know) as a bandaid for Chrome disabling an extension I use daily, I finally switched to Vivaldi! Seems good so far, though I had to immediately do a bunch of customizing to get rid of visual clutter

Also roll20 doesn't work so I'm *still* gonna have to use Chrome a bit 😔

THIS. Did you know sickle cell is curable, now? FULLY curable.

If you're feeling down or despairing about what FEELS like technology/advancement/science "standing still" or being fully malicious, I have great news: You're not paying attention to actual science. Just tech industry marketing.
meanwhile.... medicine has taken INSANE leaps and bounds in the last 2 years.
we're out here curing HIV and leukemia and creating 100% efficacy vaccines against all sorts of cancers, and now this??

between this and renewable energy outstripping fossil fuels in efficiency, the future is bright
