Nearly every local conversation or ST member I've met (and I've presented at three national gatherings etc) has been great. They're pretty much all earnest and caring folks trying to make their community better.

You think this lotto winner is shedding tears over the $628 million - extreme generational wealth - he’s taking home?

Yeah.

Neither should the other filthy billionaires.

On reading this my takeaway is that the yimbys in CA already went through the strong towns approach of doing the next easiest thing until it led to state level reforms.

Skipping some of the intermediate steps doesn't seem like a major problem or major disagreement

I haven’t heard anyone doing that. It’d be a hard/weird stat tho, because of how quickly usable/not usable can shift.

@bikeportland.org I saw a post you put on Instagram about how bike lanes are full of water and leaves. Do you think there's anyone collecting the data on what percentage of bike lane miles are actually usable right now? And where there's problem spots?

Feeling the feminine urge to block any and all Dem fundraising texts
Truth. Yet Schumer pledges: "We will keep fighting." No.

We fought and won battles for them on Tuesday, only to be betrayed on Sunday.

We the people (and some of us a lot more than others) are tired of being betrayed by corporations, media, and the representatives who don't represent us.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

Live streamers are a nearly constant presence at Portland’s ICE protests, often seeking out conflict and confrontation. That’s where the profit is.
Livestreamers are filming — and sometimes creating — conflict at Portland ICE protests for clicks and cash
As the weather turns cold and wet, fewer and fewer people are showing up to protest in front of Portland’s ICE building. But the presence of streamers has grown.

the details aren't super important but I feel like home turnover being incredibly low really juices the feeling of inequality in society.
U.S. home turnover rate hits lowest level in decades
About 28 out of every 1,000 homes changed hands between January and September. That is the lowest U.S. home turnover rate going back to at least the 1990s, according to an analysis by Redfin.

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek said state employees “worked through the night” to issue full November benefits “to make sure every Oregon family relying on SNAP could buy groceries” by Friday.

Well done, sleepy heroes.

But I wish the United States system weren't grinding to such a disastrous end.

It’s extremely funny that the ninth circuit was trying to let Trump have his invasion of Portland but the government’s lawyers lied so brazenly and unnecessarily to the court that the judges were embarrassed into reversing course.
A federal judge has permanently barred the Trump Administration from deploying National Guard troops to Portland, following a long back-and-forth battle. Oregon leaders are celebrating the decision, but DOJ lawyers are already discussing an appeal.

Also, never breath the phrase "Jury Nullification" around a judge or lawyer. It makes them nervous. Instead, as a jury member, you only need to say "I don't believe the prosecution proved its case." You need not explain that statement. Just say "I don't believe the prosecution proved its case."
