I’m sharing this video again because people don’t really get what these data centers and ai are doing to our planet and our communities. Especially Black communities because they were strategically placed there.

I need you to listen to these people.
STOP USING AI. STOP SUPPORTING AI.

that 'johnny cocktails' thing vinesauce played is really something. the 90s cd-rom boom is a good example of the kinda thing i'm talking about in how much experimentation in games is tied to disposable income being aplenty. I released a compilation of the entirety of my first six music releases from 2018-2023. 36 tracks, 2 hours and 23 minutes.

I wanted all my pre-Ableton stuff in one spot so I could clean up my bandcamp discography.

Pay what you want, or not.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

For over a decade I have tied my shoes one specific way: Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot. I learned it from Ian (aka Professor Shoelace) whose site is over two decades old. The knot has never failed me. I spoke with Ian about knots and the dangers of the modern internet. aftermath.site/ians-shoelac...
Ian's Is Still The Best Site For Tying Your Shoelaces
Ian's Shoelace Site has been teaching people to tie their shoes for more than two decades. His knots are wonderful. But it is vulnerable to the forces tearing the internet apart.

In 1998, the (bad) Italian movie Cucciolo somehow managed to do something important: they shot quite a long sequence in the now-defunct SegaWorld London, located inside the London Trocadero. The park opened in 1996 and closed in 1999.
Here is the entire sequence.

Absolutely amazing tool to fix out of sync subtitles that I discovered recently, can't tell you how much of a game changer, maybe life changer even this has been for me lately, it's really like magic, what used to take hours if not days to fix now gets fixed in seconds or minutes at worst.

Someone mentioned 'Legend of the Red Dragon' on my post about BBS's, and yeah, this seems to be one of the more famous 'Door games'.

RPGing hack-n-slash adventure in 1992 for DOS with a tongue-in-cheek flair. Reminds me of browser stuff I'd play in '05 like Kingdom of Loathing and AdventureQuest.

As I note in the introduction to the mix I posted yesterday, the final track is a real curveball: a cover of Autechre’s “Yulquen” by fingerstyle guitarist Shane Parish. (You may recall his Aphex Twin cover on last year's REPERTOIRE.)
