Academia is a really racist and sexist place. Larry Summers, as the president of Harvard, epitomized that racism and sexism but he is not unique. That's why we needed DEI.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

So Harvard is keeping this guy, but Claudine Gay had to step down over ginned up plagiarism accusations and bad-faith accusations of anti-Semitism.

Got it.
Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

He will continue teaching.

Because their corporate media masters demand that they maintain access at all costs.
Why do journalists have no apparent solidarity whatsoever? This rancid POS jabs his finger in a woman reporter's face and calls her "piggy" and none of the other journalists there says a word?
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

Barack Obama *ILL-ADVISEDLY* ran against Bobby Rush in 2000. He lost by 30%. Many of us absolutely knew he would lose at the time in Chicago. 3 years later he was running for Senate. Anyway, "waiting your turn" in politics is ridiculous. You run when you want to run & failure is fine.

I don't understand the new arrangement either: Trump authorizing the House to vote to demand that the DOJ something that Trump would already have the authority to order DOJ to do (certainly under the Trumpian Executive Theory, arguably even under normal circumstances).
One thing I don’t understand is why Republicans have been fighting the Epstein resolution *so* hard, given that there is zero chance it will become law, and less than zero chance that Bondi would comply with it even if it did.

They’re still fighting the House vote as if Trump’s life depends on it.

The Harvard Crimson has ID'ed and published the name of a well-known economist who was the subject of emails between Larry Summers and Epstein.

Born in China, she did her B.A. – Ph.D. at Harvard.

The code name that Summers and Epstein used in their emails about her was "peril." What a vile pig.
