Writer; artist; radio host of A Smooth Ride (weekdays 2-4pm PST) & content coordinator at Portland's Jazz Radio @kmhd.org; archivist emeritus & co-conspirator at San Antonio's FL!GHT Gallery; he/him; hopefully witty, certainly verbose
Over Thanksgiving weekend, I played hide and seek with an 8-year-old and once it got to running for home base, I was wiped after two minutes, and it was a slow two minutes.
To be fair, he's not wrong LOL.

And before you say anything, take a look at most of the 40-year-old men you know. Could they run full speed for an hour everyday?

Queer BlueSky: how old were you when you came out and how old are you now?

I came out at 32 and my brain finally started making sense after so long of "I guess forcing myself to like women isn't going to take, much to my Baptist family's chagrin". Now I'm 39 and am as gay as possible.
Queer BlueSky: how old were you when you came out and how old are you now?

I was 14 the first time I came out :3 I am now 29! even tho I was raised very religious, I somehow managed to realize, single-handedly, in the backwoods of texas, that I loved being gay hehe
Queer BlueSky: how old were you when you came out and how old are you now?

I was 17 and now 40. I remember not really wanting to be gay a lot, but I feel much better about it now.

That’s the part everyone forgets.

You can feel your feelings. That’s valid.

They can not give a fuck. That’s also valid.

I know I'm part of the problem of circling back on folks *before* the end of the year instead of after the start of the next year, but this empty pocket of time has *so much potential*.

Okay, I went to a meeting for work over Zoom, I even spoke. I can safely say that I've worked from home today on the day after Christmas and don't need to take vacation time.

Where else can you see Katharine Hepburn, Peter O'Toole, young Anthony Hopkins, and barely out of high school Timothy Dalton in the same place?

In the middle of my annual watch of this now, and it's better every time
Here's a Christmas Day recommendation for a Christmas-set movie that has basically nothing to do with Christmas: The Lion in Winter, a deeply ahistorical but very funny movie about Henry II trying to choose his successor. A big influence on Succession, and you can tell in how biting the dialogue is.

As impressive as the radio station's catalog of Christmas music is, and I've added some songs myself, I'm looking forward to the return to normal of my show on Boxing Day.

As I'm nearing the end of the year, I'm looking back at my write-up for this last year's Winter Jazzfest which may be one of the best things I've written in years.

I really like my workplace and many of my coworkers but whenever someone rears their head with some misbegotten optimism, I want to spray their face with a water bottle like a cat I'm shooing off a kitchen counter. Knock all that "giving them the benefit of the doubt" off!

I'm rather bummed HBO has probably fixed all the Mad Men episodes they've uploaded. We all should have kept quiet for a while to see how they made it look like a guy lost his foot with a John Deere riding lawnmower.

Amongst the numerous crazy things about the Tarantino/Dano/Anderson-by-extension beef is that P.T. Anderson has now made ten films, shows no signs of slowing & keeps getting better, whereas Tarantino put an arbitrary cap on his output, is close to a self-imposed deadline & feels almost out of steam.
