Sesame Street really tells the story of America:

- Created for PBS to educate young (especially Black!) children
- Becomes a beloved institution cherished by the entire country
- Gets privatized and kicked to premium cable due to budget cuts
- Unionization leads to mass layoffs

What a country!

Brother used to get mad I would lock the door to our apt at night and he couldn’t get in (he didn’t like carrying a key while out drinking) so he would leave his window unlocked and scale the tiny bricks on our 3rd floor apt to get into his bedroom window coming home from the bars
Freshman roommate would routinely come home from parties and drunkenly start watching Miracle on Ice at 3am
a full on fight over whether someone touched (not ate!) someone else’s frozen burrito in a microwave that ended with one of them being carried out a door underarm like a toddler by an heir to a recognizable company while yelling “YOU TOUCHED MY BURRITO!” it’s referred to as the great burrito war
