Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

A promised vote on the ACA? See, they can’t include the ACA without having to bring the House back into session - and they’d have to swear in Grijalva. That’s what this is all about. Protecting the Epstein files.

one thing i find crazy-making is the idea that getting rid of the filibuster would make congress a purely majoritarian institution. bicameralism itself is counter-majoritarian! equal state representation is counter-majoritarian! the fact that senate elections are staggered is counter-majoritarian!

Also, being scared to go to #NoKings in your big blue city or nice blue suburb feels extra dumb when you see these people doing it.
Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

A viral video shared with claims it shows “anti-fascists” being attacked is not real, and was made using an image from September 2024.

Clues such as the text on a flag changing halfway through are evidence the clip was made using artificial intelligence.

I was talking to a 22 year-old who is doing the same sort of work I am right now and through a weird twist in the conversation Gamergate was brought up and he looked honestly confused and said "wait, that was real?" and I've been thinking about it ever since. I don't know what to do with that.
You cannot understand politics in the United States in 2025 without understanding Gamergate.

It is the Rosetta Stone for our current nightmare.

What a stat.
Since WW2, 19 seats in Westminster have been won with less than 30% of the vote. Ten of those were last year. They'll be a lot more next time.
5 parties on more than 12%, winner gains seat with under 30%. Results like this used to be rare, freak outliers. Now they are routine (there was a second just like this yesterday). Electoral chaos.

What always makes me raise an eyebrow about scepticism towards phasing out fossil fuels is that it's inevitable. They're going to run out. Much of that oil needs to used for vital stuff like medical supplies anyway. This is just something we will have to do. Why even question it?
Just dropped: @financialtimes.com excellent special report on electrification. I told them:

“Overhauling the world’s energy system from fossil fuels is less daunting with electrification's efficiency gains—making the energy transition outlook more optimistic than it seems."

Poverty is a governance issue not a personal one, it's the fault of a government that there is homelessness crisis and it's a fucking travesty that we allowed these ghouls to make people believe otherwise.
The belief that poverty and homelessness are about "individual choices" didn't arise on its own. It was manufactured through decades of messaging designed to protect the policies and interests that create mass precarity.

As this new poll shows, that propaganda campaign has been wildly successful.
