ScienceSky I'm putting up a signal. I'm working on a new series of Horrible Science for Children's BBC. We would love to chat to experts about their favourite science facts for kids. I'm looking to chat to chemists first as well as some peeps who know their human biology.

Helen has put together this wonderful list of all science festivals in the UK over the year.
It may feel as though we live in dark times, but here in the UK there are LOADS of science festivals celebrating ideas, sparking curiosity & sharing the latest research (for both adults & kids). Someone told me recently they didn’t know where to look, so I made a list. Here goes… [deep breath]:

Just had to evacuate Kings Cross St Pancras underground. It was then most British evac. Everyone just queued as normal, and stood on the right of the escalator as minority of us used the left to walk up.

No idea what was going on.

I really like this article, it does a good job seperating out motivational stress and toxic stress, www.nature.com/articles/d41... to support people in a competative enviroment.
‘I was told to toughen up’: is academia getting resilience all wrong?
Being repeatedly told to bounce back and develop a thicker skin can mask a toxic lab culture.

When politicians are vocal on how UK economy struggles with low productivity. I find moments like this frustrating.

I’m standing at a platform having to wait 30 mins for the next train, because it’s £100 more to get this half empty one, and no bus is reliable enough to leave for the station later.
