I see no reason not to look at the online gambling and prediction market craze as a new opioids crisis.

Sure. No good comes of persecuting anyone doing drugs, formerly doing drugs, being addicted to drugs.
But depending on the drug and the addiction, it does show your judgement is suspect & you've made poor decisions.
So I'm okay if that precludes you from positions of great authority & power.
