At a current time in which merely speaking Spanish in public in the US can literally get you arrested deported or killed, the site of such a joyous celebration of Spanish-speaking culture as fun, inclusive and fundamentally AMERICAN was in its own way deeply and rightly political.

It is not lost on me that the Super Bowl is one of the most watched events in the US, and this year the music is unashamedly Latin/ Hispanic.

It makes me happy to see Olympics ads that feature women as much as men. And all sorts of Americans of all colors. Team USA always makes me proud to be American because that's the America I want to see all the time.

I'm not sure I'm totally ok with being the generation that they're using nostalgia songs in ads. I am definitely not ok with both N'Sync and Backstreet Boys being used against me in this way
