These kinds of things happened two decades ago under the last Republican president. A lot of people made a lot of short term money. Then it all came crashing down and his successor had to clean up a huge mess. Here we go again.

haha, a year. i am very sorry to report that somewhere in romancelandia, a white woman is probably writing this and is planning to self-publish something like this within weeks.
We're probably a year away from someone dropping what they'll describe as a "griping Romeo & Juliet story" about an ICE agent falling for a woman he tear-gassed while kidnapping her father.

It'll be written by a white woman from a law enforcement family, and she'll be *shocked* by the backlash.
They’re going to try, they’re going to find a very popular actor, and they’ll shoot it morosely, and they’ll tell you they’re really trying to “honor the story” of the people they targeted for kidnapping and detention amid this psychological study.

When you can’t afford health insurance just remember that Sen. Kaine is sleeping well
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

I'm trying to do real work today & everyone is bashing this already, but my god:
1) Schumer clearly arranges or at least greenlights the sellout but then votes against it so he can pretend to have a spine.
2) They sell out for a *promise from Republicans*, who lie like they f'ing breathe.

I turned on the TV just in time to hear this, and it struck me as both defensive and tone deaf.
Tim Kaine is on MSNBC accusing Katy Tur of "overdramatizing" the way he and some other Democrats caved. "This is by far a minor-league issue within the Democratic Party," Kaine said.
He's completely out of touch, or just lying.

for those in Virginia, here are @kaine.senate.gov contact numbers. The DC office is only going to voice mail.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

Jesus Christ, @kaine.senate.gov, getting a pinky promise to hold one single vote on ACA funding is not "a path toward fixing the health care mess" anymore than a lottery ticket is a "path toward fixing my personal finances"
“Um well there aren’t even any Senate Dem Press releases saying they support the deal”

If I lived in Virginia, the second that Spanberger is sworn in as governor, I'd be demanding @kaine.senate.gov's resignation so she could replace him with someone who's actually aware of what is going on.

Nothing is more terrifying to a congressional democrat than the prospect of having to govern.

They just want to fundraise on being impotent opposition
Moderate Democrats saw that voters were energized and might expect something from them, so they needed to put a stop to that ASAP

One of the most important provisions of the ACA was eliminating pre-existing conditions exclusions from insurance plans.

Folks need to be reminded that if the ACA goes away, so does that provision.

Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.
Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.
