It turns out that protecting hate speech did not create the conditions to protect other kinds of speech; instead, it protected hate and allowed hate movements to take over all the institutions of that might have defended the rest of us.

Maybe I'm the last person to realize this, but Kennedy's behavior makes a hell of a lot more sense when you realize what he is:

Maybe I'm the last person to realize this, but Kennedy's behavior makes a hell of a lot more sense when you realize what he is:

A president randomly dropping a slur for Jewish people during a rally would be bad by itself, but it's especially galling from an administration that has routinely deported migrants for criticizing Israel's actions in Gaza under the guise of "combatting antisemitism."

"Alligator Alcatraz" is wrong and media should not use it. It's propaganda. Alcatraz held people convicted of crimes, particularly violent crimes.
The Florida camp holds people *not* convicted of any crime. If they had been, they'd be in prison elsewhere.

Not sure if this is the BEST example we want to use, as the English Commonwealth was little than a military dictatorship, politically dysfunctional, and lasted all of 6 years before the Monarchy was Restored.

For the youngins, "Third World" was a Cold War term describing nations not fully aligned with western capitalist powers or communism. "Third World" described much of Africa as well as India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, etc.
When conservatives use it today, it means "non-white".
