HOLY SHIT. They found the genes for fibromyalgia - and it's *not* autoimmune, it's the central nervous system. It's very cool to see some progress made on the thing that's ruined my life since late teenage years!
Medical Republic: 'Fibromyalgia finally gets a genetic fingerprint'

'Additionally, certain risk loci overlapped with long covid (BPTF) and ME/CFS (OLFM4, RABGAP1L/GPR52), two poorly characterised disorders, albeit with different lead variants.'

The weirdest thing about this discourse is that states with shorter school closures have the same amount of learning loss! I keep waiting for all the punditry on this to catch up with basic facts
Every time Covid and learning loss hits the news, people act like the only factor is folk staying home and learning online, rather than… Living through a global mass death event.

One of the more distressing parts of this is the people who think replacing coal, a fossil fuel, with LNG, a fossil fuel, will actually solve the climate crisis.
As more and more studies expose fossil-fuel health harms, Mark Carney is doubling down

First Nations and frontline workers are leading the charge against Canada's aggressive LNG expansion

Social media is weird. I spend two months in another country without my phone and I don't miss it for a day. Suddenly the phone is back and I get sucked in for a moment at a time.

It's inevitable, apparently.

How about this?

What’s the point of getting a flu shot this year? Here’s what the science says | CBC News
Some scientists say this year's flu shot isn't well matched to a key strain that could spread widely in the months ahead. So, is there still a point in getting it? Medical experts say: absolutely. Her...

I say it over and over again: when you have that much money, you want to live where you want to live and you are simply not going to relocate because of marginal tax rates

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Geez, he's desperate. (He's currently complaining Carney hasn't built anything in his first six months and brought up Trudeau within a minute.)

Q: My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. How are you holding up?

TRUMP: I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get for about 150 years.

There's so much handwringing about whether violence is acceptable that ignores the fact that violence is utterly normalized - normalized one way only. If violence was unacceptable, Palestine would be free, almost all guns would be outlawed, and Trump wouldn't be president. Violence is daily.
