Arsenal, Yankees, Jets, CFMTL, Habs, & Kraken
As a bassist, I can assure you the reason you like that band is their bass player. 100% of the time.
it’s like a band’s rhythm section really cooking live, it’s the reason you liked it so much but you’re probably not going to verbalize it as “bass player was out of his mind tonight”

I'm sharing this because sharing an NYT story about this outweighs my dislike of the publication.

We have known for months because of data outside of Japan that this year's flu season was going to be bad but we have an HHS secretary that hates vaccination and so voila.
“New York City’s syndromic surveillance system, which collects information about every patient who visits an emergency room, reported 9,857 visits for “influenza-like illness” last week. That was higher than in the worst weeks of the 2017-18 or 2024-25 flu seasons, both ranked as “high severity”

The Republican Party is letting a madman deface national monuments. It keeps him busy and happy while they loot our treasury for their billionaire donors and violently persecute their political "enemies."

This could be true (and lord knows someone like Bouie is better placed to make that judgement than me), but I still can't help feeling that Vance is a genuine *anything*. The emptiest suit in human history.
vance is a genuine lunatic
JD VANCE THINKS BRITAIN & FRANCE ARE AMERICAS LIKELY ENEMIES.
The world is getting bizarrely screwed with this kind of bull being spewed out.

Even an unsuccessful and wasteful operation could be forgiven in the context of a broader strategy, but that doesn't exist here.
we fired a dozen precious tomahawks at a 200-total-personnel militia with tangential ISIS ties far away from the bulk of the ISIS/BH threat in Nigeria (a friendly government with its own large and capable military) and it sounds like we didn't even hit them.

It kind of bugs me that there's no such thing as comprehensive, free family MDM. I'd love for there to be an easier way for me to remotely support at least the devices in the Apple ecosystem that are scattered throughout my family.
It is surprising to me that none of the major platforms have actual _parental control_ features so that we can limit the amount of time that our parents can spend online, and which apps they’re allowed to use. I don’t worry about my teenager’s use of the internet at all, just my octogenarian dad’s.

This is a very weird kind of cope. One where you comfort yourself with the thought that better things are impossible.
From an extranational perspective, America giving rise to Trump was seen as absolutely, disappointingly inevitable. An uneducated, insular society will allow all sorts of aberrant people to lead them. And so long as America remains an idiot nation, it will just keep happening with different idiots.

Neither the New York Times nor the Washington Post published stories about Trump writing 200 unhinged posts on Christmas Day
You almost have to feel bad for an ugly old man with no family or friends to keep him company on Christmas Day that he makes 200 crazy posts ranting about everything under the sun.

Almost.

Nigeria’s Islamist terrorists are the worst kind of fundamentalist, whittling their faith down to one meaning, murder. But Trump, by declaring his attack on them a “MERRY CHRISTMAS,” meets them on those terms. Holy war between murder-minded narcissists distinguished only by sincerity & firepower.

There is also something profane about the way that the most irreligious president in modern US history, a man who worships nothing but power and attention, is exploiting Christianity as a pretext for his nationalist program.
Here’s the U.S. government being officially religious in a country with no official religion.

It's incredible how much of this stuff is just out in the open, but because Trump said "Russiagate hoax!" 5000 times, the media was brainwashed into treating it like a nothing story instead of one of a ten alarm scandal
Tenet Media founder Lauren Chen, who secretly took money from two people with ties to Russian state media to involve conservative influencers in an unwitting propaganda scheme, is back in the US after being deported to Canada under President Biden. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

“Who’s gonna stop you for that” is Trump’s key political insight
Newly discovered recordings show how far Donald Trump went to attempt overturning the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.

Trump told the Speaker he could call the session “for transparency, and to uncover fraud,” adding, “Who’s gonna stop you for that?” trib.al/Yk7Lyb5
