I’m just a few year’s younger, we definitely did live in the shadow of WWII, the Nazis were definitely the bad guys!!! He knew what he was doing, he & his mate are trying to justify appalling bullying, racism & antisemitism. There is no justification.
Exactly. In fact, having been a schoolboy at a not dissimilar school in that time, it's the Spectator article that spectacularly "misses the point": it's true that 'war talk' was the norm, but it was quite the opposite of the norm to identify *with* the Nazis - and certainly not "entirely typical".
The argument here is that because the war was still a big subject in 1970s playgrounds, this excuses Farage's gross behaviour at the time. No, Farage went way beyond anything I remember - which was more about air-shooting phantom Nazis invading the school grounds

I taught for 27 years. Believe me it takes a lot for a teacher to be sacked. This guy sounds like a delightful soul, someone I would not anywhere near a child. Not sure had chosen the right profession.
Needless to say, the teacher was not banned *because* they told a Muslim child that Britain is a Christian country🙄

I mean that was *one* of the things he said

And he was banned *after* several incidences

So technically the headline is true, but that’s not the actual story!

Picked up my machine from the repair shop today. I think i need to invest in some of those sewing clips.
Today I have been making a pair of wide legged trousers, from old jeans. Almost done, looking great, then the sewing machine found a stray needle, bent it & sent the timing way off, just as I only had zip & waistband to do. Off to repair shop tomorrow. The trousers are looking great though. 👍

Love it, definitely channeling the 1970's and 80's.
Definitely the season for a spot of kitsch.
Husband “you are not putting up any Christmas decorations” also me 😂

I spoke in Parliament today to challenge the misinformation from those claiming this tribunal as a 'win' for the anti-trans agenda.

In fact it found Ms Peggie harassed a colleague for being trans, and it dismissed almost all her claims.

It also found that trans segregation is not supported in law.
We've written & published a short summary statement regarding the Sandie Peggie V NHS Fife Health Board employment tribunal case & the judgment given yesterday. Much of the media coverage has missed key information, the most important aspect being that all claims against Dr Beth Upton were dismissed

My intuition says AI should be avoided like the plague.
AI is going to make humans devoid of intuition, and when that happens, we will be even more susceptible to propaganda, misinformation, and disinformation. And that is a feature, not a bug. Never forget that the billionaire tech bros are in bed with politicians and oligarchs. This is a power grab.

Friends, make your phonecalls! #transrightsarehumanrights
1. For weeks, EITM has reported that Republicans would push a trans healthcare ban in their ACA negotiations.

Now, the plan is released, and it includes heavy restrictions on ACA plans, a medicaid ban, an EHB ban, and more.

Democrats must not capitulate.

I’ll just put it out there, I hate the term crafter, I’m not a crafter I’m a sewer, my mum was a sewer & knitter. I have a friend that definitely is a crafter, she definitely is not a sewer, along with her crafting she is a knitter & potter. As a sewer I’m more of an engineer than anything else.

Watching the demolition of 3 tower blocks, in Scotland yesterday. Watching a demolition like this is definitely on my bucket list. Some years ago I went to watch 2 tower blocks demolished, they didn't come down. That was an entertaining day. 🤣

The exact people now saying "Nigel Farage was young and foolish at school" (to excuse his racism, bullying and harassment of fellow pupils at Dulwich College) are the same people who said "Shamima Begum was old enough to know what she was doing".

I think this isca travesty. Such a waste of crumble and custard.
I think we’ve found the most British crime:

Four people have been arrested after custard and apple crumble were flung at a display case containing part of the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London.

The group Take Back Power says its members poured custard and apple crumble on the Crown Jewels display.

The victim of bullying never forgets. I remember the horrible things that happened 50 years ago like they were yesterday.
“Farage has suggested that it’s inconceivable that anyone could recall such events of more than four decades ago. I would simply ask: can a victim of such abuse ever forget?…I recognise his walk every time I see it on TV as that same walk that used to approach me”
www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
I’ll never forget the look of hatred Nigel Farage had for me at school, simply for existing
The Reform UK leader doubts people can recall their abuse from years ago. I’ve never forgotten his – it felt malicious

OMG, this is comedy gold. The village people are singing at the world cup draw shindig. The American right will be going into meltdown now.
They must all very in their 70s at least.

If they bump House of Games because of this very boring world cup draw I'll be seriously annoyed.

I had a catholic education. We were taught to accept, unquestioningly, the existence of God. We were taught no evidence was needed to be a true believer.
As a 7 year old I knew this was dumb. As an adult I know it is total BS and about control.
Needless to say I’m not a believer, I like evidence.
A few years ago, Bill Nye the science guy debated creationist Ken Ham about evolution. The last question was "what would change your mind?"

Bill Nye said "Evidence."

Ken Ham said "Nothing can possibly change my mind about this."

I think about that a lot.

My family medical insurance bill is almost €400 per month. The renewal came in for next year at nearly €500 per month. We ‘shopped around’ (there are only 3 providers) and got taken on by another company at the current rate. This is your future when the NHS is sold off. Fight for what you’ve got.
