If you were chilly riding in to work this morning, it might be a good day to check out my guide for dressing for the weather on a bike. My site also has a printable template for keeping notes on what you wore and how it felt if you want to create your own! allweeksend.neocities.org/Guide

wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage

Milwaukee Ave southbound bike lanes are not great! If you don’t have a great deal of confidence and experience riding ice/snow/sand, I wouldn’t! I made it downtown safely from Avondale but there were a few very sketchy moments. Ice ruts are the worst of it. #bikechi

How was it later? Trying to decide if I should try riding downtown from Avondale tomorrow …

I’d be curious to see total number of households in each income gradation too. Did middle income people disappear or densify?

This is not the language of the government of a free country.

I guess, I think we’re past that. The murderer of the week was caught on multiple camera angles, public identified relatively quickly, and his actions are still being justified and defended by higher ups. What’s the point of ID without the possibility of accountability?
January 14, 2026 at 6:43 PM
Why not just use a name badge that’s human-readable? QR codes can lead anywhere and you don’t know before you follow it what it leads to. Could be YouTube, could be malware download, could be a normal-looking site that logs hardware addresses of everyone who visits.
January 14, 2026 at 6:36 PM
Or, better yet, it downloads tracking malware directly to your phone!
January 14, 2026 at 6:22 PM
Exactly. You follow the link on your phone and now you’re on a list! Wheee
Oh great, so they can track who looks up the agent’s identity? Stupidass.
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.

DEAR #BIKECHI… have commute options in mind if you usually ride.

This morning was soft, wet snow and now it’s already turned to ice.

Not what I anticipated.

Did it just change domains with the name change? Not that I would be surprised if they’re actually purging documents.

In Chicago, if you are an urbanist who wants to put street furniture on the sidewalk you need $1M liability insurance. But if you're a dirty cop that plants evidence, you don't need any liability insurance.

How many of them just put a rickroll QR code over their ID? Or something worse.

In the spirit of compromise/"politics" I say lets run with this but instead of a QR code it's a bulky sandwich board with all the identifying info written out in a huge letters so it's readable from a distance
