The other day I showed some friends "Hakaider" and one of them did not realize that Kaoru died so he thought that Hakaider just left her asleep in the garden and did the last fight of the movie and then skipped town without even talking to her ever again

Porn and erotica are important and societally valuable forms of speech, and the defense of them, in the face of state and church attempts at repression, is a necessary political act.

Alex Toth designs might be my most platonic ideal of superhero/sci-fi design. This is the gold/classic standard. I should probably peep this sometime.

Taught my dad the trick of thawing shrimp by putting them in a ziploc bag and putting the bag in a pot of warm water and he looked at me like I was a genius. He had a shrimp emergency because he bought frozen shrimp the day of a football game and our friends were coming over. Not the first time.

Reading Chotiner interviews with people who actually know what they're talking about is interesting because you realize his main skill is not "gotchas" but just like, facilitating effective communication. when that runs into someone who's used to dissimulating they get humiliated.

Allow me to connect some dots for you:

Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more.

Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.

You don't have to wait until your dog's actual birthday to throw a laid back dog birthday party where you invite your friends and their dogs over under those pretenses. You can do it any time of the year.

yes, AI is being used to make CSAM and revenge porn and it’s telling people to kill themselves & their loved ones and it’s destroying the environment and it’s infecting every creative field but hey, you gotta admit, it sure helps me make my grocery list

This vile shit is basically all the tech bros ever wanted it for, and fuck every single dickhead who's enabling it's use.
So we just accept this then? This is a legitimate use of technology going forward? This vile individual's account is just prompt after prompt asking Al to alter real-life images of women. The law needs to catch up with technology now - because we can't trust these tech companies to police themselves

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

DyE's "Fantasy"

afaik it never got aired on MTV, probably because of the violence, sex, and horror. But it's fully animated and well-animated, which you almost never get from music videos.
MTV is officially ending all of its music channels.

In honor of that, what's your favorite music video?

Reminder that years ago it was found out that the FBI straight up made up a whole bunch of fake forensic sciences, plural. People have gone to jail and been executed due to literally pseudoscience.

Hair forensics, for instance, is totally nonsense.

They admitted it.
