Current listen. 🎧 I am loving it. As someone looking for new configurations to exist in, this is such a pick-me-up. There are options for the future. #audiobooks #translatedliterature

Sometimes I get the urge to reread books I loved as a teenager. My tastes have changed significantly but I should get my own copy of Tigana and reread it.

Speeches are great but a reminder that what we're getting here in Canada so far is:

* Tax cuts for the wealthy
* Militarization and more surveillance powers
* More oil, less action on climate change.
* Austerity and cuts to the public service
* Deals with authoritarian regimes

Have said it before, bar US from Winter Olympics and shut down their hosting the World Cup, given their* hostility to democratic countries and international norms.

It will never happen, but would hit very hard.

* I’m truly sorry, but what the President says and does IS ‘them’ in these matters.

Poor people and broke people do not need food advice from rich / upper middle class "wellness" influencers. Poor people have more resourcefulness & resilience in their pinky fingers than most rich people can hope to witness in the entire course of their lives.

But this is what we’re left with. And then we’re judged when we lash out.
Requesting better accessibility in the world is not unreasonable.

Expecting disabled people to just accept inaccessibility and having to navigate a world of constant barriers is, however, extremely unreasonable.

Undeterred, within two years they had published Jane Eyre (Charlotte), Wuthering Heights (Emily), and Agnes Grey (Anne) respectively, to lasting acclaim

Chuckling at the people in the U.S. who consistently shit on people who live in "red" states... Well according to others in the world, the entire US is now a "red" state. Not so easy to overthrow authoritarians, is it?
