Today I learned that the paleontologist who recorded the educational dino audio programs that my son sometimes listens to at bedtime ... is in the Epstein files. So that's fun.
Jack Horner being in the Epstein files is not something I had on my bingo card for 2026.... Horner seemingly visited Epstein's ranch multiple times, including apparently with a student.

The boldest color choice on Sunday’s Grammys red carpet may have been the carpet itself.

But the most popular accessory of the evening? A small, round, white pin bearing the words “ICE Out.”

Can we PLEASE stop calling it the EPA?! The EPA died over a year ago. If we need to give it a name, use "EDA", the Environmental Destruction Agency.

"the EPA announced it would no longer calculate the economic benefits of lives saved when setting limits [on pollution]...From now on, the agency will only tally the costs to industry. The benefits to human beings? Too uncertain to count, according to the EPA."
“This isn’t just a policy change. It’s a betrayal of more than a century of hard-won victories by public health heroes who fought, often at great personal and professional sacrifice, to establish a principle that should be beyond debate: American lives have value.”

I understand they are useful simulations. But in terms of intelligence, it is "fake." I mean, it's right in the name: "artificial." And the mechanics of *how* it simulates intelligence are worth investigating, including the limits of what it can do.

Well, what does it mean for AI to be "fake?" Language evokes intelligence - in the reader. It's a powerful illusion. A reasonable critic sees that computation at scale can fuse language w/math in ways that do things. That is not "intelligence," and the problems that come that error are bountiful.
You can totally point out that some aspects of AI are overhyped, you can believe that AGI is not possible, you can criticize how the companies and governments developing AI are using or being coopted by these tools. There is a lot to criticize.

But "it doesn't work and is fake" is just wrong now.

Every single person should listen to this @muellershewrote.com podcast.

To me, the Trump regime should be impeached, removed, and charged (put them in jail). Then we convict. These people CANNOT be in charge of our nation.

Our national safety is at risk and all American residents are in peril.

In Germany the camps did not begin as death. They began as temporary, legal and administrative. "For public order", they said. They grew because space existed, because citizens adjusted, because each step towards extermination felt small. It was built, justified, one "warehouse" at a time.
