I don't listen to Matt's ideas on combatting the right for the same reason that I don't listen to the Washington Generals plan for defeating the Globetrotters
IMO it's hard to combat the dangerousness of the right by participating in a platform where they aren't present.
I think the best way to explain the X vs Bluesky preference is whether a person thinks the left is more annoying than the right is dangerous.
The reason so many Noah Smiths end up on the X side of that equation is that while the left annoys them personally, the right mostly endangers other people.

If you do commercial lit, you'll find that they are just as bad with the things they announce at earnings calls. I have seen multiple antitrust-ish cases where key evidence was "here's the annual brochure where we brag about our scheme to shareholders"
Do enough litigation and you realize that most people are positively moronic about what they put in their emails.
of all the atrocities these emails likely allude to, it's still amazing that 'elites' write awful things *in emails*. so above the law, so convinced of their rectitude, so conditioned to impunity.

The pattern has existed for ages: Republicans lie about what Democrats are planning in order to give themselves permission to do that thing. It's not that the accusations are confessions, the accusations are battle plans.
