Reupping one of the greatest pieces of thought on record (imo) on racism.

Relevant for all -isms that require someone else to suffer so that you can feel better about yourself.

Humans will NEVER colonize another planet. Never.

If we can’t even agree to do the minimum to keep Earth habitable, there’s no way in hell we’ll cooperate to make another planet habitable.

Marie Antoinette romanticized farming, tending to her perfumed flock. Didn’t make her a farmer.

We romanticize what it means to do manual labor. We romanticize what it means to be ill (of course we will recover without lasting impact —we’re healthy!). We romanticize suffering.

The thing about America is that it is massive and diverse and absolutely beautiful, and the people here are extremely independent and individualistic, which is both a blessing and a curse. The US used to incentivize creativity/innovation, but now it's collapsing in on itself and we get to watch

"racism is caused by foreigners"

well done everyone
The Home Secretary explaining that the rise in racist violence is, actually, the natural response to higher levels of immigration is a state of affairs that can't exist without the government having largely decided that racist violence is, if not legitimate, at least understandable.

We've had about a half dozen papers come out in the last 6 months showing certain planetary systems - AMOC, Greenland Ice Sheet, Antarctic Current, Amazon etc - are at points 30 to 50 yrs ahead of projections and near breaking point. But AI will save humanity.

I had a dream I was gifted/won a young alligator that I think I was meant to have killed & then eaten or had stuffed, but I named it Lyle & demanded that a friend who ghosted me help me find an animal sanctuary.

A bunch of grade school kids said that roasting green chile should be our state smell so their teacher had them write our state Congress and in a shocking display they all came together, wrote the bill, and passed it in a matter of weeks

I am increasingly convinced that we can bamboozle Trump into being 5x more socially progressive than the Democrats, just by putting him in proximity to lots of charming progressives.
My conspiracy theory to my friends that Trump is such a mock person, he simply adopts the personality of the person who seems like he holds most power in a room is being proven right.
