It's not ignorance. It's not malice. It's not that he's owned by petrostates and polluters.
It's ALL of these things!

All across Europe, as well as in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, US allies are reading Trump's national security strategy and realizing that it was authored by people who view them as enemies while idolizing Vladimir Putin and plagiarizing from his recent speeches.

without birthright citizenship in the united states, you don't have a democracy and you don't have rule of law.

revoking birthright citizenship gives fascists free rein to purge the country of literally anyone they don't like. it opens the door to atrocities and mass murder. i am not exaggerating.

I don't care if you think that AI can do some really nifty things. It's being rammed down our throats by obscenely wealthy men who are also, obviously, both dangerously right-wing and mentally unstable, and no rational society should be allowing that to happen. End of discussion.

yep, project 2025 translated into official strategy
The Trump administration released its latest National Security Strategy--and one thing that can be said is that there is no more pretending. It’s a plan to weaken European unity, to make Europe MAGA, to force Europe to take economic dictation by the USA…. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Bears repeating that one of Russia’s first major social media influence campaigns in the US promoted antivax views. Why? For it’s a way to do clear material harm to the country.

And here we are.

I'm not into that thing where we repost conservative condemnations of fascism as if they have more moral weight--they don't, George Will has been an apologist for reactionary crimes for half a century--but he can do polemic, and this turn of phrase is sharp.
George Will: "Pete Hegseth seems to be a war criminal. Without a war. An interesting achievement. ... The killing of the survivors by this moral slum of an administration should nauseate Americans. A nation incapable of shame is dangerous, not least to itself" www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

I was thinking along these same lines today. I've only ever known one person from Somalia, and he was one of the loveliest people I've ever known. He had that rare gift of being hilarious but never bringing anyone else down.
I've never been to Somalia, but I wrote in The Family about US Christian nationalism's role in devastating it, and I've been blessed by knowing a few fabulous Somali-Americans, some of whom escaped the horrors of US warring on their land. Trump isn't fit to touch the hem of their garments.

In some ways, Trump has already devastated Ukraine in the USA. He has taken his "deal" that under any other administration would be seen as appeasing a dictator and selling out a democracy, and had it repackaged by the herd as a necessary compromise.

Remember in 2000 when Al Gore was repeatedly misquoted as having said he invented the internet and that was seen the eyes of many as disqualifying him from office? Simpler times. Today, Trump makes up lies equivalent to "I invented the internet" 30 times a week and no one bats an eye. Good job media

Stephen Miller’s ancestors were Jewish refugees from the pogroms in czarist Russia. They came to the U.S. in the early twentieth century, even as racists said this same stuff about them.

One thing that is not getting enough attention is that Trump has normalized the idea of the United States supporting the transfer of territory and millions of people from a democracy to a dictatorship.
The ending of freedom for millions is now the official US position.
