I may have a stroke.

Someone said protests don’t belong in church and it took every ounce of self-censure within me not to say “Deborah you are literally a Protestant.”

A PROTESTant.

I assume they think Luther was nailing Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to the door.

Generalize your skeets. What's your most typical, most average skeet?

My brain is too muddled to sound sensible. Here’s a repost from someone profound I agree with.

Hey look at my dogs. They’re perfect. I love them so much. They’re being such assholes.

Christ, these assholes (who might be human or canine) are keeping me from writing books/comics, which are for sale. Please buy them, we are so very broke and tired. Also, butter.

I'm not sure Democrats in D.C. are aware that their base's rage against ICE has reached a level of blinding white-hot intensity.

They're worried about "looking weak" for voting "against law enforcement" when they should be worried a mob of housewives is going to come beat them to death if they do.

There's a lot to do, and none of it is your sole responsibility, and not everyone is in a position to do every task.

But as Gandalf said of Merry and Pippin -- the falling of small stones can start an avalanche. So look for small opportunities to love your neighbors.

I think about this thread all the time.

"This fucking sucks" and "all is lost" are two different sentences.

The first is often true and necessary to acknowledge, the second is both false and demobilizing.
There's a particular kind of doomer on here who's like "and then SCOTUS will install him as president for a third term, and the military will back him up" as if that's the end of history.

Friend, there's still an "and then" after that.

This is exactly why I no longer get happy when he speaks up about an issue. Too many times I’ve emailed that man thanking him for standing with for democracy, only to receive a reply reiterating his firm support for Trump. 😒

This thread is very helpful and calming! Good reminder that we have a system for elections and it can’t be disrupted as easily as Trump says.
There's a lot of talk about Trump "cancelling" elections.

Elections aren't something "coordinated" by the federal government. Elections are bottom up

Our whole government is bottom up: states conduct elections to field politicians that they send to the federal level to form a federal government.

The only visible, tangible sign that a person loves God is how they treat the powerless (widow, orphan, foreigner, poor).

Biblically–you can wear a cross, pray the most beautiful prayers, write books on christian ethics, but if you won't love the Least, your faith is not in God.

Agreed! I may be going to Hell in a bucket,
Babe, but this daughter of an English professor still has spoons to care about grammar and usage.

the reason people sometimes act madder at democrats than republicans when republicans do impossibly evil shit is the same reason why, if you hired an exterminator to handle a roach infestation and he showed up to feed and play with them instead, your first instinct wouldn’t be to yell at the roaches

This year, statues of tall men clad in all black with masks drawn up to hide their faces are disrupting the serenity of a Charlotte church's Nativity scene.

The figures are depicted approaching the Holy Family and the Wise Men with handcuffs as if preparing to make an arrest.
