The evangelical Church elected to put itself in a self-induced spiritual coma in Nov 2016 and its life support system is Denial.

"belief in God" is a fantasy: words like Jesus, obedience, love, faith, resurrection, lord are untranslated, harmless, empty.

I took 10 secs and jotted down three reading lists...

Tl&Dr, Secular, and White evangelicals.

First TL&DR: the whole book is here for free, it's short & hard

The greater the influence a person has; the greater the shun the person receives.
The issue wasn't that I criticized Trump - they have token liberals and Democrats on to criticize him all the time - it's that I criticized him from the self-described point of view of a conservative Republican. THAT could not be allowed, lest it be taken seriously.

They didn't go along....

He made them an offer, a quid pro quo, 'no one does what you want but I'll do it if you back me up in whatever I want to do'

He said he could shoot someone in the middle of fifth avenue and not lose a supporter. They said 'he's one of us'.

The entire expression heard over and over in the old and new testaments is widow, orphan, migrant (or foreigner), and poor; those are God's special people. But you wouldn't know it from listening to MAGA.

I argue (as many of you do) that what a person says and does (if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck) is their identity (it's a duck).

Christian nationalists are not christians just because that's the name that was given to them – every thing they say and do contradicts Jesus.

If only conservative clergy would do something like this

MAGA doesn't see Jesus (who was targeted, grabbed, beaten and killed as a political criminal) in these targeted men, women, & children being ziptied and hauled off to camps

Their God never said care for the widow, orphan, migrant, poor

Republicans now adjusting their lines to accept Trump as a pedophile. Reminds me of how they understood him as King David who did despicable things, was forgiven and loved by God.

The doctrine at play is that since God writes the laws, disobedience (sin) is first & foremost against God.

The GOP really are masters at rhetorical manipulation.

This guy is the advanced guard, most ruthless ideologues denigrating people and defending the president, and here he is hedging his position

Sombrero is his way of saying the base will mock him as traitor.

We're supposed to believe he cares?
Sen. John Kennedy on Epstein: "I just don't think this issue is gonna go away until it's addressed and answered to the American people's satisfaction. And I may end up with a Sombrero on my head for saying that, but that's the way I see it."

Honestly, it's so tiresome that people still give MAGA the benefit of the doubt, as if it has a platform other than straight up racism (identity) and self enrichment

Those two principles occupy all their energy and policy. Is there a #3 they care about? uh, uh

You think maga has any bottom?

Exactly, it's about who has unfettered freedom: of movement: bodily, socially, economically, geographically, politically: Whiteness

My son gave me this book for Christmas in 2019, it's still the best articulation of MAGA in one that I've read.

In a recent book I read, "self-government" and ideas of property rights/capitalism are objectives in the various myths America lives by: christian nation, nature's nation, chosen nation, millenial nation, innocent nation

This 'Spirit' has killed before and called it good. find your moral lines now!

'christian nationalism' is not new, it's the civic religion of the Doctrine of Discovery, it's the civic religion of racialized slavery, it's the civic religion of manifest destiny which respected no treaty or peoples in its way, it's the civic religion of Jim Crow, it's the civic religion of MAGA.

Lol, moral people don't elect pathological narcissistic liars because they know they'll have to explain why...

If you did, did you set any redlines that you wouldn't cross?

If you haven't, think back to who you were in 2016 and what line s/he would have set

My most woke opinion from a secular pov is no white person understands our racial predicaments; a black woman would be the ideal fixer.

from a christian pov it's that there is a *mandate* in any covenant with God to care for the widow, orphan, migrant, poor generously.
My most woke opinion, probably: society needs to decide on a wealth cap, and income tax becomes 120% after that amount. Confiscate all hoarded wealth beyond that amount. And all those little tax loopholes need to be sealed up tight.

Save the billionaires’ souls by making them not-billionaires.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

When you call them "christian" you hand over to them a basis they can manipulate to invert what's good and evil.

He is the lesser of two evils by what standard?
Jasmine Crockett: "If people decide that they want to continue to support person who may be a pedophile themselves or a person who obviously is covering on pedophiles, that's on them. But they should at least know the devil they decided to pick."

I went to college in Westchester county during the late 80s, and all my college friends, eventually even the ones I was sure were on my side said 'let it go, he can fix this' in 2016.

So yes, we all knew him as the worst example of humanity; they overlooked it.
America's most notorious child rapist, Jeffrey Epstein, said this man was the worst person he'd ever met. Let that sink in.

For 2000 yrs, christians have recognized two moral standards. The Life: ways and truth of Jesus and everyone else.

So I have little tolerance for people who identify with Jesus and actively reject his life, ways and truth.

I mean, you are what you say and do, not that favorite verse you quote.

White America's 'hired gun' entire life is one long lie to conceal his carnal depravity.

Of course he's profiting off every situation, the point is he does what White America wants.

Hate to break it to you but Heritage and other "christian values" political activists have been doing this since before the Christian Coalition folks.

Losing 'separate but equal' the impetus.

Yesterday I read a book of letters civil war soldiers wrote home. Each side to a fault said their love was unbreakable, but they knew this cause was greater. And if they died {in upcoming battle} they wanted her to know they would come back to them in spirit.
