The evangelical Church elected to put itself in a self-induced spiritual coma in Nov 2016 and its life support system is Denial.

"belief in God" is a fantasy: words like Jesus, obedience, love, faith, resurrection, lord are untranslated, harmless, empty.
"deplorable" is kind

This book is for anyone interested in a historical tour of how the Bible is used* in five Myths America Lives By. Each chapter ends with a African-American response to that myth. In his second edition, the author adds a sixth...the myth of white supremacy. +

The language is so similar. seems like they got their comms together.

Me thinks this is the not so subliminal language to say he's no longer what Democrats say he is and has earned their forgiveness.

The entire expression heard over and over in the old and new testaments is widow, orphan, migrant (or foreigner), and poor; those are God's special people. But you wouldn't know it from listening to MAGA.

Exactly, it's about who has unfettered freedom: of movement: bodily, socially, economically, geographically, politically: Whiteness

My son gave me this book for Christmas in 2019, it's still the best articulation of MAGA in one that I've read.

The End of the Myth

A little out of your question.

White America's 'hired gun' entire life is one long lie to conceal his carnal depravity.

Of course he's profiting off every situation, the point is he does what White America wants.

They found 2/3 of evangelicals disagree with the other 1/3 and all nonwhite christians when it comes to the biblical mandate to care for the poor.

Their theology has no reference to it, they worship the Religion of Whiteness.

2/ I shoulda gone further.

Jesus never identifies with the powerful, they're are content with what they have.

But this woman has lost everything that matters, she can appeal to him who experienced the same betrayal by the system – all his family, disciples, even God, abandon him for their agenda.

2/This is where you'd find Jesus (with the least significant, the sick, the powerless)
November 4, 2025 at 1:20 AM
The image on the left is how Whiteness see Jesus: exterior cleaned up, blonde, blue eyed, rich, successful, powerful

The Bible depicts Jesus as friendless, penniless, homeless--he'd be living in a tent city if he were alive today.

human fascism, appropriate God to baptize inhumane force.

God's fascism, reject our self-importance/prestige to align our Will to God's...
- "whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
- "whatever you did for one of the least, you did for me."

When the pastor of a conservative evangelical church and I get together for lunch the subject naturally comes up that Christianity in America is devoid of any responsibility to do what is taught in scripture and by Jesus.

These two pages from Richard Hughes offer what I think is the explanation.

Came here to say what others have already said: oil
but come to think of it, he has said he'd like immigrants from Norway. Haiti and Africa need not apply.

Two new books showed up today.

Dorothee Soëlle is a German feminist theologian whose book Choosing Life is a collection of talks she gave on liberation theology, very practical.

And Terry Eagleton, I quote him often, has been very influential in my thinking.

Have a trip planned.

From our rivers to farmland to national protected land, America is being run like a business–highest bidder can pollute, acquire, & develop.

People have to 'live with it'

Giving candy out to trick or treaters may be my wife's favorite activity, she talks to the moms and dotes on the kids, I can hear
–Wow, look how tall you've gotten
–go ahead, take one of everything
–you're costume is so scary

Halloween is when we turn on the heat (start burning).

I often feel at a loss when talking christian nationalism with christians because 1-every person starts on a different square (not a line), has 2-a different definiton of christian, that 3-I spend too much time wading through the marshes to find where they are.
