this is wild. In her final act in office, Adrienne Adams has gone full NIMBY and now is putting parking over pedestrian safety.

call her office and your local councilmember to express support for Intro 1138!
Have you called Speaker Adams yet today? Tell her why we need universal daylighting, and urge her to bring Intro 1138 to a vote: 212-482-6731
We have just three weeks left to pass universal daylighting — and the biggest thing standing in the way? Daylighting obstructors.

Universal daylighting is simple: clear intersections so drivers, pedestrians, and people on bikes can actually see each other. It saves lives.

"We need to build more housing all across NYC. Today NYC builds about 4 houses per 1,000 people, Jersey City is at 7, Tokyo is at about 10. We need to do this by streamlining the processes of private sector construction across the city, by ensuring we're building more around hubs of mass transit…

Immigrants are part of the fabric of California—but some people want to force them into the shadows. Trump and his MAGA cronies force them to live in fear, terrorizing them with ski masked secret police instead of lifting them up and providing a path to citizenship. This is not acceptable!

ICE agents are illegally arresting people at their immigration court hearings + detaining many of them at holding facilities like 26 Federal Plaza. The conditions are horrific: no beds, showers, little-to-no-food + virtually no access to legal counsel or medical help.

We’ll see you in court, ICE.

There are a couple of ways to think about how much housing we need to be building in New York City on average, every decade.
- The current figure is about 200k units per decade
- City of Yes likely bumps that to about 250k per year (+25%)

Both of these figures probably still fall short.

I see toddlers cry about everything all the time, and I found it far more disturbing to see refrigerator trucks full of body bags outside of the hospitals…
