As the @51st.news's first full-time reporter, I don't actually disagree with this. We're building something new one brick at a time, but at this point it's simply not a one-for-one replacement for what's being lost at the Post. (Please read and support us, though!)
People keep saying that this is The 51st, but with respect, I don't think it is. The 51st has (admirably) positioned itself as an outlet to give voice to underserved communities. But the city needs, like, a sports page, an arts page

Hmm, this could be a problem: My kids' @dcpublicschools.bsky.social is closing off part of its sidewalk because chunks of snowcrete are falling off of the roof. This could be a serious concern for homes and buildings with slanted roofs.

Wife tried taking our garbage to the Fort Totten transfer station. The city hasn’t picked up trash on our street in almost two weeks. A person there said he was told to stand there and tell people they’re closed. No reason why.

I remember the last time the Seahawks and Patriots played in the Super Bowl. That's the game where Pete Carroll lost his damn mind and decided to PASS from the 2-yeard line on the last play of the game, when Marshawn Lynch was RIGHT THERE. The most baffling choice I've ever seen in football.

UPDATE: @wamu.org is also running an underwriting spot from "The Trump Kennedy Center." WAMU has had a long relationship of financial support with the center that predates the name change by many, many years. Again, WAMU does not have control over names of orgs and businesses.
WAMU is currently running an underwriting spot from the National Symphony Orchestra that says “The Trump Kennedy Center.” WAMU does not write these spots. They come to us from the organization that pays to air those spots. We have no authority over how NSO refers to its performance space.
