ai in theory, design, and practice has not been a low-cost way for poor people to access artistry, but rather a very expensive way for rich people to vent their jealousy that poor people vastly outclass them artistically despite limited resources
a key indicator this is a bad faith argument is the implied assumption that working-class people lack the ability to use professional or prosumer-grade software tools and thus need things dumbed down for them, which is both bizarre and demonstrably inaccurate

Listen man, something I don't think I've shared about the anti-trans stuff. When I was a kid - and bear in mind this was the 80s - a family friend was trans. Long before the idea of puberty blockers and stuff. She got asked shit all the fucking time.

My brother wanted a London pub crawl. The result? My new Substack post: "Britain Lost 14,000 Third Places. They were Called Pubs. Is Your Local Next?" How private equity reshaped the local, which pubs are most at risk and most importantly what to do about it.

I don't think this is a particularly fair framing.

I'm entirely willing to believe that Peter Mandelson gets up to so much corrupt bullshit day in day out, with sums of money that would astound most of us, that a deal to buy a £2m apartment in Rio via nested companies could genuinely slip his mind
Two weeks ago, Peter Mandelson told us he had no recollection of planning to buy a £2m apartment in Rio via a Panama holding company and a Brazilian company.

Yesterday we found notarised incorporation documents for the Brazilian company, with Mr Mandelson's signature.

There's something about how it's been released that Trump said, "Oh thank god you got him! Everyone knew he was a wrong uncle!" at the same time Streeting has said, "Oh yes, I knew him but was never his friend. I was just pretending!" about Mandelson that's just

it really boils down to who do you hate more, rich sex abusers or the left, and I’m afraid that from Thatcher to Starmer we’ve been run by people for whom the answer to that question is “the left”

Isn't it super random that all of the "anti-woke" cancel culture academics who all leaned into transphobia and race science later in their careers all seem to be connected through Jeffrey Epstein?

I don't think we have to engage properly with Matt Goodwin talking about birth rates, he's just trying to signal that he wants more white people, it's not really anything beyond that.

Making a comic with AI will cost you roughly 150$ a month (device and internet)

A pencil costs 15 cents and a ream of paper is 6$

You could be like Kirby or you can embarrass yourself and make a prompt and generate a gross representation of what Kirby would do.

I'm old enough to remember when the mere suggestion Mandelson was doing anything remotely like this was unforgivably disgusting antisemitism.

Why, it's almost as if capitalism prioritises profit above everything else.
This is staggering. All the changes to student loan terms (many retrospective) mean that overall, graduates* will repay more than they borrowed in real terms - i.e. the state will make a profit out of student loans, not subsidise them. So a graduate contribution >100% via the loans.

*2022/23 cohort
I expect to spend today staring at this: ‘we’ve gone from government suggesting that the state would subsidise undergraduate student loans by about 45p in the pound, to making a profit on them for that cohort’.

A *profit* on student loans: everyone should read this. 🤯

Or, put another way: Do we think this affair is proving so difficult to explain because it’s fiendishly complex and hard to grasp, or do we think it’s difficult because it’s so straightforward and everyone gets it just fine?
Again: Morgan McSweeney was Labour’s billionaire bribes officer - a redundant position in a member-funded party antagonistic to government by bungs and secret agreements. Then suddenly he had all the media access and funny money he required to launch a wrecking campaign *and* a leadership campaign.

I remember seeing Ghostwatch when it was first broadcast. I never thought it was real - I'm sure it was clear somehow in the TV Guides or whatever that it wasn't a real thing.
Thousands of terrified viewers flooded the BBC phone lines after the premiere of Ghostwatch on Halloween of 1992. One of them was the mother of Sir Michael Parkinson, who honestly believed that her son had been possessed or killed by a demonic spirit on national television.

I think the bookers have probably looked at the overt Twitter fascists and then at - say - guests such as Douglas Murray, Mel Phillips, Nigel Farage and Nick Timothy, and they have quite accurately concluded there is very little difference between them. In politics, rhetoric and behaviour.
