Hello there.

Am an eater of foods, taster of wines, rider of bicycles, dispenser of Bespeisungswonne, spectator of rugby, listener to music, watcher of film & reader of books. Not necessarily in that order. Many, many shoes.
The one round the corner from the Brangwen Hall where they hold Swansea Beer Festival.

Took a visiting Belgian lad who had a *lovely* evening.

Turns out he'd never had British fish and chips before and was treated to the sweetest, freshest beer battered hake out of the paper that I've ever had.
If the chippy looks like it hasn't changed since the 1990's then you know you've got a winner

The stuff of legend down our way.
30th of January 1894, and the Adelaide-bound Loch Shiel attempted to take shelter in Milford Haven, jiggered it up, and sank with 7,000 bottles of whisky (according to the manifest) or absolutely no bottles at all, never seen 'em, if you looked official and asked the inevitably inebriated locals...

I came home from work and found our big front bush had been pruned..

*with extreme prejudice*

"Her next-door did it"

"She fu... what now?"

"S'OK, she asked and I said yes"

"You liked your big blue bush though."

"Yes darling but I can see out of the window now"

😬
Is an overgrown hedge obstructing the pavement around your way?

This [below] shows that councils actually do have the metaphorical tools to take action, and that sometimes they actually use them.

So maybe it *is* worth reporting the one that's been bugging you.

There are 24million barrels of whiskey in Scotland.
Thats a fact.

Appaz.

And when your whiskey broker, goes bust… it’s down to you, to track yours down.

Don't send anything via Royal Mail. Ever.

A colleague & I came into work 30 mins early, stood in the doorway waiting for our parcels to arrive at 0944.

Parcels came there none.

We did have messages saying "property inaccessible"

Lying toerag.

We can't even rearrange a new delivery - no card.

Regular exercise is pretty easy to take up in your 30s and will keep a whole host of ailments away. You don't need to do very much, anything is better than nothing but make it enjoyable so it's sustainable.
If you’re over 30, quote this with some life advice 🤌🏼

One of the minor things that’s impressed me about how Americans are fighting back is how brilliantly they’ve taken to swearing. Once a CEO I worked for used minor swear word in presentations and we got loads of complaints all from US. Now every fucker is at it from Senators to janitors. Bravo.

Dear Isaac Asimov. Now we have self-driving cars that are basically robots, we've figured out the real-world Law of Robotics. It's acceptable to kill humans provided the rate at which they do so is slightly lower than humans would otherwise so so.

Has anybody taken their bike on the Channel Tunnel shuttle minibus? I’m looking to get back from Paris in May and think it might be the way.

I just looked at my statements. When I graduated from medical school in 2022, my loan balance was £88,797.

Today it is £105,589. This is despite paying hundreds of pounds a month every month.
Spoke to Shleagh Fogarty yesterday sbout why the Chancellor is wrong: our “student loan” system is not remotely fair. It’s regressive and embedding inter and intra generational wealth inequality. It’s not a loan system, it’s a bad grad tax in all but name.

Somebody's going to have to update this to include Suella Braverman.

A week really is a long time in politics.

Well now, this is a little thread of joy.
Not to crowdsource my work but I grew up without a TV! For our sitcom, I need a list of very very famous ads from British TV over the years. Please link your favourite ones below and they may end up being a key plot point that saves the day. No pressure!

Cycle using mates in London and elsewhere, please respond to this consultation! It ends on 28th Jan. Lots of folk are trying to halt the building of a separated cycle track in Westminster, including the folk who got the Ken High Street track ripped out.

Can anyone help?

I have a 1875 home with coal fireplaces that have been reconfigured by previous owner to propane.

I was wondering if the propane inserts can be again reconfigured to a wood burning stove insert?

Would the existing propane flue be double walled?

Any other considerations?

The Hiraeth is very strong.
My reason for moving back to Wales is about belonging. My Jones tribe have been in Bangor forever, are still there generations later and have welcomed me like I’ve come home. Meet my gggrandparents Cadwalader & Jane Jones (1903) and 3rd cousin Glenda who I met in 2024 and love to bits!
