Congratulations to Dr. Grace McNutt on her successful PhD defence yesterday, with her thesis "Women on the Water: The Feminine Seascape Onboard Nova Scotia’s Nineteenth Century Deepwater Merchant Sailing Vessels." Dr. McNutt will soon begin a postdoctoral fellowship at CBU. We're proud of you!
A professor at Texas A&M taught… something related to gender that offended a student, who secretly filmed herself objecting. That video is picked up by TX legislators, who demand her firing, and now the dean and dept head have been fired.

The Department of Justice has also acknowledged the situation and said it would be investigating.

ICE just reactivated its contract with an Israeli firm that makes phone-hacking spyware. Here's what you should know.

Video shows a blanket knitted by Irish activists as a tribute to Palestinian children killed in Gaza.

Each square of the blanket represents 10 of the nearly 19,000 children killed by Israeli forces in the besieged enclave.

Congratulations to @cupescfp.bsky.social and Air Canada for reaching a tentative agreement and to the flight attendants for winning ground pay! Workers just proved the power of collective action and principled resolve against unfair labour practices. The workers united will never be defeated!

in an era of invasive social media, data leaks, data breaches, etc., I'm not swayed by legal experts using "privacy concerns" to criticize this particular police use of drone technology. Distracted drivers are a menace on the roads - pure and simple.

I have been home in Pennsylvania for 45 minutes and I’ve already hit a pothole so deep I had to fight a balrog on my way out

I’m very interested in this event, but unfortunately I won’t be able to attend. Hopefully there might be something available online after it’s all said and done?

Peter Adamson - here in Halifax! Please consider attending at the Halifax North Memorial Library, April 16, 2025. See Event Brite below for reservation.

In grad school, I submitted a seminar paper that mistakenly included a blank page between pages 12 and 13. The prof wrote on the blank page "best page so far."

It was their only comment.
