In recent weeks, we have also had students at our high schools participate in walkouts. While the District does not encourage, endorse, or host walkouts, we respect the right of students to exercise their First Amendment rights. Schools that have walkouts will communicate with their communities. We recognize that recent immigration enforcement activity—both locally and nationally—has created fear, uncertainty, and concern for many of our students, staff, and community members. We want to acknowledge these feelings and affirm our unwavering commitment to the safety, wellbeing, and support of every student in CCSD. The primary purpose of our schools is to nurture and educate children and to ensure they experience learning, a sense of belonging, and joy while in our care.
