Capital gains can be part of the retirement plan …. And hopefully some of those are held within an RRSP and a TFSA.

Women must always have her own:
1. Chequing
2. Savings
3. RRSP (investment)
4. TFSA (investment)
5. Cell phone bill in her name (in case she has to leave a relationship)
6. Credit card in her name
7. Second savings account at another bank
8. U.S. Dollar account
And THIS is [one reason] why I am an advocate for maintaining individual accounts in conjunction with joint accounts.

Thank you.

Oh that's a finance milestone, I'm back over 20k in my TFSA!

Saving money is really hard but I'm finally making enough money from all my income sources that I can safely put stuff away again!

Making a TFSA investment with a firm and their privacy document indicates they may share my personal deets with US firms (because some products this firm manages are based in the US).

I’m really hesitant to sign this document giving them permission to share my deets with the US. Am I too paranoid?

I always hear the "but you'll pay higher taxes...." i make great $ after 25 yrs with the same job, have extended health, 100% basic dental, a solid pension and pretty nice TFSA savings. My 32% combined fed & prov taxes is not too bad considering ive had a lot of surg/illness 3 kids... and no bill.

Tax TFSA gains held in usd….would probably bring in about 500m$, and over time would encourage more to put their investments into Canadian companies…

Now Russia is out of the game, as is the Assad regime. What is left are groups that don't necessarily have beef with the SDF but are backed by Turkey. SNA/TFSA were busy fighting the SDF for the last two weeks while this whole thing was going down. But HTS doesn't want anything to do with this.

I started couch potato style for Canadian Bank dividends
Canadian dividend tax credit. Max TFSA contribution. growth over dividends b/c taxed at 1/2. But when you make more, it doesn't matter b/c over 200K and they're the same.

Glad I held off on topping up my TFSA

We also have a TFSA, you can invest after-tax dollars in one and any money you make in the account is not taxed when you take it out.
Kinda the flip side of our RRSP, which are taxed when you take the money out as it was a deduction when you put it in.

One of the best things we did (because we were able to and I know not everyone can) is that when our Prius V was paid off we ‘kept paying it’ by transfer the same payment amount to a TFSA.

It meant we had a decent down payments for our RAV4 Prime. The PHEV has been amazing.

A friend sent me Poilievre’s X post touting a TFSA top-up and at first I thought it might be a matching grant.
No, dear reader, it’s just a higher contribution limit. Here’s the presser:

Woke up to see Pollievre promising a bump of $5000 for people to contribute to their TFSA.

With the threats to the economy, who has $5000 to contribute to their savings?

I thought the CPC marketed themselves as the cost of living party?

I don't understand

Just like their TFSA top-up promise, who has the money? I think I know, Suits Not Boots.

Nothing but a shell game. This will not help the economy and in a downtown, people cannot afford to add to their TFSA.

No. Long term solution is to hive off limit of TFSA yearly (paying tax on RRIF withdrawal) and spending the dividends tax free going forward.
There's no sure thing but death and taxes. Putting money into RRSP worked for me. I liked getting the tax refund and knew I'd have to pay eventually.

Polievre does not understand finances or the economy

Polievre’s TFSA top-up will provide little benefit to Canadian companies

Polievre’s TFSA top-up will benefit only wealthy Canadians
