I feel the same. A huge amount of outsiders came into fandom since the beginning of COVID. They entered a nest full of nerds, neurodivergents, beautifully weird people and scream at everything that doesn't look normal to them... But a fandom isn't a "normal".

House I stayed at over New Year's has forks with only 3 prongs. They were overly long, too, weird proportion. I see this as an act of violence. Every person on the trip individually had a reaction to the forks.

yes!! i find this so interesting too, but it does also make sense, i think. autism is neurological, and while everyone's brain functions are the same (between neurotypicals, and then between neurodivergents) they are also all unique and i think that also factors in with autism.

I often stub one toe or another when I walk barefooted around the house. I recently learned we neurodivergents have differences in proprioception.

But i think it’s pretty normal for neurodivergents, particularly, to feel this way. And yep, i think it’s good that you’re ready to accept (at least intellectually, if not yet emotionally) that you’re stuck being someone many of us do, in fact, really like!

A lot of us neurodivergents have been targeted by malicious individuals who exhibit a lot of the traits of narcissism. And we've been exploited and mistreated and harmed and repeatedly hurt by folks who prey on our differences.

Still true in 2026. Our volunteers & community include People of the Global Majority, queer folks, unemployed, immigrants, neurodivergents, disabled folks, and people impacted by failures in affordable housing, mental/healthcare, transportation, food access. We believe in science & research, too.
