It’s gonna be really important to treat anyone using this line of attack with as much contempt as possible.
In case you were wondering what one of the major lines of attack on AOC will be in 2028, it won't be about Taiwan or populism but about her belief that Israel isn't entitled to free and unlimited military assistance from the US

They already tried that once
Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), the party supported by JD Vance and Elon Musk, are now looking to ICE in the US for inspiration and saying Germany needs an ICE of its own. www.politico.eu/article/euro...

My extremely mild take is I think it is good that people who are too stupid and lazy to learn how LLMs work lose their jobs/companies/whatever

Saving this for when people tell me I should back Newsom because he’s the moderate candidate because frankly fuck anyone at this point who is in the center and chooses to be hostile to the left.
Gavin Newsom: "I'm in the old Ronald Reagan mansion here in Sacramento. The spirit of Reagan is very alive in the walls surrounding me. Now we have an invasive species, Donald Trump, in relation to that. The populism of Trump is reflected in Bernie and AOC and our politics on the left."

Feel like this is really capturing the bizarre-ness of Bluesky because this is ABSOLUTELY the norm - many young people never leave their hometowns, and most people under 40 live within 100 miles of their hometowns
watching John Green talk about his buddy from high school who is still his friend and I’m curious, is that common for people on here?

My most, idk, socially unaccepted? opinion is:

“getting punched in the face for being a fucking jackass is a critical formative experience and we would be in a better place if more people had this happen to them at least once”

the Palestine Action ban really was a classic Starmer govt move: a hysterical overreaction that won them zero plaudits from the right, cost them badly to the left, and which got shot down in the end anyway.

I went to college in Springfield, and both of my grandmothers were born there, so while I do not live there now I have called it home.

The vultures trying to farm engagement from this all is fucking sickening.
I spent yesterday reaching out to "creators" — purportedly liberal — about misinformation in their content related to Springfield and its potential impact on community safety. Springfield just closed its schools as of 10:30 today due to safety concerns.

Hey Barack, ever find yourself wishing you actually enforced the law and held Trump accountable for all the crime?
Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, we’ll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate change—all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.
