In one bowl, smoked salmon with lingonberries, in the other bowl trail mix (Assorted salted nuts, dried fruit, and cacao nibs), water with fresh sliced strawberries and a single lemon slice, and in the last one, bits of assorted cookies (some hard, some soft)!

I'm considering ordering either dried or frozen lingonberries for the secondary fermentation, but they sure ain't cheap.

I'm also considering oak chips, which I haven't used before.

BTW I've seen both City Steading's videos on this topic.

Ooo must be super nice to have a back garden full of berries! That sounds so nice! But yeah mine is also mostly filled with bilberries (I do like them tho!) I didn’t find a whole lot of lingonberries. And yeah raspberries would be yummy but gah so expensive :’)

Yeah berries are expeeeensive, which was the number one motivation for me to go berry gathering this autumn and I filled most of my ice boxes with wild blueberries and lingonberries :’D

If you go to Ikea, they serve a similar sauce made from lingonberries with the Swedish meatballs in the cafeteria

November 27, 2025 at 11:44 PM
They had lingonberries, frozen

Lingonberries > cranberries
November 27, 2025 at 4:57 PM
Growing up where marsh cranberries are a big crop, eating canned would have been heresy. Now live where lingonberries grow (locally called cranberries), so make "cranberry" sauce from them and love it. Sadly didn't pick enough this fall.

This photo, also including huckleberries and lingonberries, makes the berries seem even more similar than I thought. Obvious differences in sugar content and color when ripe aside. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Va...
